Highfield House Hotel

When I booked, I saw the route closest to the school, but the airport bus went down and we carried the luggage for more than half an hour. If there is no baggage for about 15-20 minutes, the bus can take several stops. Pure English breakfast, breaded omelette bacon ham and potatoes, as well as some side dishes and small West Point, fruit milk cereal tea bags and so on are simple and clean, in short to meet the demand. Parking is available at the hotel entrance. There is no elevator in the three-storey building. Narrow stairs, on the day of check-in, a waiter at the front desk was very nice, helped us carry the luggage upstairs, because I came to study so I brought a lot of luggage. On the day of check-out, only one waiter was busy at the front desk, so our mother and daughter It’s really a shame for the two to move down from the third floor. It is suitable for children with a quiet night and the rooms are air conditioned.

I had problems trying to book with Central Booking as one person said they could give me a room next to my Son and his family. When I rang back to book I was told they could not do this due to data protection. However when I rang the hotel the receptionist was happy to give me a room opposite my Son. It would be helpful if all staff were working within the same hotel policies. When I complained to customer services they were not interested and refused to escalate my complaint, stating they can only deal with complaints after the stay. I found this hotel very expensive for a basic Premier Inn - It was more expensive than the Hilton I stayed at in Southampton. I am guessing this is because of its close proximity to Paultons Park, even though there was no bar or restaurant apart from at breakfast time. There was not even a telephone in my room to contact reception. Staff on reception were very unfriendly. On checking in the receptionist just stared at me and again when I collected bags I left, another receptionist just stared at me. They made me feel very self conscious. My Son experienced the same when he went to complain that his room had not been cleaned and towels changed as requested - however he didn't realise that someone before had left ”Do not disturb” on the outside door handle. But no-one was aware that he had requested his room to be cleaned. On leaving I told the receptionist that I was kept awake all night by doors banging but she did not care and just said ”I will investigate”. I have not heard anything back about this and she did not even take any details. So their good night sleep promise is clearly just a lie. The buffet continental breakfast was very good and the member of staff in the breakfast room was very nice and helpful.
Ennios Boutique Hotel

This review is for an overnight stay of 4 travelers (DH, DS, DBIL, and myself). We arrived early in the morning after disembarking on a 10 day cruise. We were greeted by Joe, who was most helpful and welcoming. We spent the day on a walking excursion and returned back to the hotel around 3 pm. Our chilled rooms were a welcome upon returning with temperatures reaching into the low 90s. We again were we greeted by Joe in the morning to take our breakfast order, call for a taxi, and brought our luggage down to the lobby for us. WOW, that’s great service! The hotel is small (only 10 rooms), with no elevator, and air conditioning only in the rooms. There is a lovely bar and delicious restaurant in this quaint boutique. With charming accommodations, wonderful service - thank you, Joe, convenient location we would recommend Ennios Boutique for unique stay.

Stayed here for just one night with friends to watch cricket at the Ageas Bowl. Had lunch before we went which was nice except one of the ciabattas was very hard. The lady serving us (Marie) was very apologetic. She has a great sense of humour and made us feel very welcomed. On returning late she made sure we were served at last orders. Our room was very nice with a comfortable bed, good shower. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and well prepared. Would stay here again. Staff were great, especially Marie!
Southampton North

We stayed at this hotel on the edge of Southampton. Had trouble finding it on both my Sat Navs ( Garmin & TomTom ), did find it using Google Maps - easy to find. We only booked the 1 night here and also paid for the meal deal - evening meal and breakfast at the restaurant next door. We where lucky as we where on the ground floor - there's no lift in this hotel, it was a hot day & night, but not too hot to sleep - there was a bit fan in the room, but no air-con. As I booked this hotel nearly 1 year in advance, it was free car parking when we booked it. This changed just a few weeks before we arrived, but we did not have to pay the fee. Not sure why they would want to charge to park here, this is on the edge of Southampton in a residential area, only 1 other pub near by and a couple of shops. We did go for a walk and stretched our legs on the Saturday morning before we departed for the short drive down to the docks which took about 30 minutes to do, again I used Google Maps to navigate my way there. In all another comfy nights sleep, no noise from anywhere. Good room as I would expect from a Premier Inn. Yes it is close to the motorway and the airport, and not far to the docks. We would use this hotel again if we where to go on another cruise from Southampton.
Holiday Inn Southampton

We booked this hotel at very short notice and had to pay quite a top rate for an Executive Double as there were only four rooms left. We were attending the Womens Euro 22 match at St.Mary’s Stadium in Southampton and there were no hotels close to the stadium. Particularly with parking. Knowing that there was extreme difficulties in parking at at the Stadium we asked the hotel to book us a taxi to and from the stadium at the times we requested. They did so and kindly emailed confirmation . The Hotel is situated adjacent to one of the Cruise terminal and is perfect for a pre cruise or post cruise stay and a handy cruise parking is available.it is also close by the city centre within walking distance. Our room was excellent, overlooking the terminal. It had air conditioning, safe, a king double bed, some complimentary goodies like a small bottle of Prosecco, water and Kit-Kats. The bathroom too was roomy with hand basin, toilet and walk in shower. Again all clean and tidy. There was a very small problem with noise from the terminal with the early arrival of a cruise ship but nothing untoward. We ate breakfast in the hotel which was included in the rate. There were excellent choices of fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, cereals and jams etc. along with good choices in the good old full English breakfast. All the items were well cooked and hot. Save the fried eggs which are always well done in most hotels unless individually cooked. It was do your own toast , coffee or tea. Again choices of all of these were available. Despite other reviews we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and have absolutely no complaints at all. It certainly compared favourably with the buffet style breakfasts on a cruise ship, of which we have done many. We found all of the staff friendly , helpful and courteous. Check in and out was very easy and there is a car park charge but that happens in other hotels too. Overal, although a little expensive our stay was enjoyable and pleasant.
