Surprisingly great experience. The reception staff was wonderful and went beyond the call to help us when my husband got sick. True, the hotel is not located in a beautiful area, and didn't look like much from the outside - but WOW when you entered the expansive lobby you have a beautiful view of the sea. We are seniors, driving on our own, so were looking for a hotel that didn't involve negotiating the city streets, served breakfast and had free parking on site. It was raining hard when we arrived, so were pleased to know there is a restaurant there as well. It was a 4e Uber ride into the charming town center. Viana do Castelo is lovely. The hotel specializes in large groups (there were several well behaved young futbol teams there during our stay). The breakfast buffet was plentiful and diverse. We had a sea view room, with a balcony and two lounge chairs....if only the weather had been better!

We stayed in room 206 with simply stunning views of the Basilica de Santa Luzia, Viana do Castelo, and the ocean right from our balcony! It met, or possibly exceeded, the view from our hotel in Positano, Italy (which was gorgeous)! The hotel itself was charming and had a great outdoor patio where we relaxed and enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner. The service both at the front desk and in the dining room was very professional. Our dinner was good (not outstanding) and breakfast was very good including the coffee. If you wish to tour the town we recommend you consider taking the funicular near the Basilica which goes down the mountain into town. The Pousada kindly provided a map and good directions. The funicular was great and we enjoyed visiting the town too. Do note the funicular hours of operation.

We lived this spot..easy to walk the historic town, Marina and walk to barber, great restaurants, bank. Service exemplary, stone building w such wonderful character and charm plus all the modern amenities. A bathtub ! Which I always enjoy, a pool after a day of walking-yes, train station next door..so helpful, bar and restaurant w a micro brew in building, need a blow out ? See laura next door..that was great.. the family that owns this hotel also has a restaurant in town which of Course we went to and loved. 5 stars all Spring. Would love to come back to this jewel of A town and this lovely hotel. Thank you

We were able to find a nice room and have a nice room for the hotel . They were very friendly at all times , especially the reception girl that inspired us a lot of familiarity . The room was very comfortable and was very comfortable and very comfortable. We were very comfortable and pleasant . We couldn't enjoy the Turkish sauna and bath because we went to 8:15 a.m. to take advantage of it a little and they were not yet on . Something to highlight is also breakfast . Just but right . The haircut is a very good thing for the haircut . The hotel was very nice and very nice , and the hotel was very nice and very nice . I spent a splendid few days at this fabulous and unique hotel in Viana do Castelo with my sister. Based in an old chocolate factory this hotel is designed all around the concept of chocolate. The rooms are themed; we stayed in Roca, which is a name used for the areas where the cacao is grown and harvested. It came with a small balcony with chairs and table which was nice. The staff where all really helpful and kind, and worked around our needs specifically at breakfast with my sister having a couple of allergy requirements and myself needing different times due to onward travel and taking part in the Etape Portugal cycle race. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very relaxing, it was nice to sit outside on a few of the evenings and enjoy a tea and cold chocolate drink! Breakfast was served at the tables and was very good with a number of pastries, cake, pancakes, meat, cheese, fruit and a choice of drinks, cereals and much more. We also loved looking around the museum below; all about the history of chocolate with lots of great info and facts and few hands-on elements, like making a drink of the chocolate drink Montezuma used to have 50 of a day, wow! The shop adjacent to the reception has a number of chocolate gifts made on site as well as hand-picked external gifts that are suitable for any chocolate lover! The location was ideal for me taking part in the Etape Portugal as it was only a few minutes walk to the start of the race. It was also very close to the station and all the key restaurants, shops and cultural buildings in the city. Viana do Castelo itself is a wonderful place and the Monte Santa Luzia offers amazing views across the region and out along the coast. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I'd love to return in the future and explore the area more! Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

I stayed here for a night on April 21 with three more friends and we all love it. All staff are very friendly and collaborative, both at the reception and at the breakfast room. The facilities are very good, with all conditions and mostly very clean. Add to these qualities is in a great place, near everything you have to visit. I recommend and will return in the future

Had the room all to myself. It's a really modern property overlooking the sea /river. The breakfast was excellent as ever. Great stop off between Porto and Santiago de Compostela. Sadly only two trains per day!
