5 * Review on Aug 22, 2020 We’re just back from a perfect three day break at Turtle Bay Lodge in COVID-free Santo, Vanuatu. We stayed in one of the lovely, new desert safari “marquees”. The four poster bed, a/c, French press coffee and indoor/outdoor bathroom was a million miles from any kind of “camping” we’ve tried before. And the direct view over the bay was beautiful. The food in the restaurant is easily the best available on Santo right now. And the veggie options are worth a detour even if you’re not staying there. We kayaked round the bay, did some snorkeling and had a couple of great days out to the world class (and in 2020, entirely empty..) beaches at Port Olry and Champagne Beach. Definitely worth hiring a car if you want to make the most of these trip options. Hats off to owners Matt and Lou for keeping the resort open and looking so lovely despite the impact of COVID and TC Harold. Although we were there as a couple and delighted by the peace and quiet, I know they also love having families with children, especially any who are up for learning a few circus skills. Yes, really.. 5* Review on July 2020 WOW!! I have only great things to say about Turtle Bay Lodge. The location is awesome with the ocean on one side and a calmer “bay” on the other. The snorkelling is fantastic and I saw coral and fish that I hadn’t seen before. The rooms are large, comfortable and spotless with a back and front door to allow the sea breeze through. The staff are friendly, helpful and just make you feel at home. Always ready to give local advice and suggest things for you to do, from the owner down. We had a fantastic time here and would recommend it to anyone. And the food - I cannot say enough. The new chef needs to stay!!! The best seafood risotto I have ever had!!
