"The hotel, location and staff was ok. It is a budget hotel and we do not expect that much. What we absolutt did not appreciate was the shower! The shower was small but that is not a problem for us. The problem was that the floor in the shower was that slibbery what made me fall when going out of it and hurt my head, my back and my hand. I should be forbidden to have this kind of shower!"

GGuest UserThe lady on check in was very helpful and the bed was very comfortable. But as the website said booking a car parking space was not possible we arrived to find it full. This resulted in a wasted 45 minutes, after already driving for 7 hours, trying to find somewhere nearby to park. The shower curtain was filthy at the bottom and the toilet door lock was painted shut. Also there was no kettle in the room and because the hotel was full, we were told that there was no way we could be given one.

CCJ50I’m really not sure how to review this one night stay. The room itself once we finally got in, was decent. Good shower, very comfy bed, good location, good parking. However, we turned up just before 6pm and we got into our room around 8.15pm. During the middle part of this, we got very wet trying to get a reply from the ‘hotel’ buzzer, spent a lot of money on phone calls to the ‘owner/manager’ and thought a lot about where else we could stay overnight because we were clearly not going to get into the hotel we had booked. It was a complete mess. No response from the buzzer and no response from the 2 phone numbers we were given. Having made 20+ calls, we eventually got a call back with lots of (quite complex) instructions on how to get our key, where the room was located (different location) and - specifically because I asked how to get through the gate of the new location - an explanation as to how to actually get into the car park entrance to our room. This really isn’t what you want for a one night stay when you’ve driven 300 miles that day. Breakfast is not a buffet - as advertised when we booked - but a few random bits in your room. I have no idea if these are changed for the next guest. Trip.com couldn’t or wouldn’t help - I’m really not sure - and the owner was not contactable. I’ve had no apology since. The explanation we were given as we stood outside in the rain was that the person ‘had been in a meeting’. They may need to review their reception processes. The reason I’m not giving this a one-star review is because the person who finally rang us to tell us what to do, was lovely and the room was pretty good (air con needed, but otherwise a good room).

GGuest UserNice location however the hotel car park it is not well signposted. Average breakfast for the price. No drawers in the room no minibar or fridge, very basic amenities for a 4 star hotel. The shower door in the bath went beyond the bath edge and allow water to go on the floor creating a paddle in the bathroom. The restaurant was a bit of a disappointing experience considering the price to pay for a mediocre dinner. The staff are completely oblivious to guests requests or suggestions. We ordered the deep fried squid and they were just served as finger food, piping hot when I asked for a plate to transfer the squid from a napkin cone with kitchen foil propping the squid to make it look plentiful, I was told tge you have to eat it with your fingers??. Pepper steak that tasted and looked terrible, the steak was cooked to the right temperature however burned on the outside, the so called peppercorn sauce was just a pan wash, no pepper at all, no stock or seasoning, it tasted like water and salt. I had a bottle of red Burgundy that I drink regularly and to my dissatisfaction on tasting the wine it was unbalanced, when I pointed this out to the staff, the wine was taken away somewhere in the back, the waitress then returned to say that her colleague had said that the wine was fine and that decanting it would correct the wine. The decanter was clearly chipped on the rim and I objected and requested at the least a non chipped one. The wine didn’t correct. Apart from the company of my wife and the garden surrounding all the rest was very unlike of what a 4 star hotel’s restaurant should provide. The grounds of the hotel are very relaxing and comfortable,

GGuest UserThe InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal. It has an interesting history. The original chateau building was constructed in the early 20th century by the architect Guillaume Tronchet in the Louis XVI style. The chateau was originally built as a country residence for the aristocracy of the early 20th century, and the architecture still shows the features of the ”transition” - the classical austerity of the Louis XVI style is intertwined with the light eclecticism of the Belle Époque. The hotel is located in the Chantilly forest, which creates a sense of a secluded reserve surrounded by Nature . Despite the proximity of Paris (only about 40 km), the hotel remains a quiet refuge in the forest - a feeling of being in a country castle rather than just a hotel. The hotel has 109 rooms and suites, the interiors of which are inspired by the bionic environment, the equestrian traditions of the region and the subtleties of Chantilly lace . Many rooms have a view of the forest, and many have balconies or terraces. Unfortunately, there is a highway nearby, and the noise sometimes reaches the hotel. This disrupts the peaceful atmosphere. The chateau has two restaurants: L'Opera, located in the former music salon, and Le Stradivarius, which occupies the former library. The latter is quite small, and when there are many guests, it can become noisy. The restaurants offer dishes made with local ingredients, such as game, cheese from Picardy, and, of course, the famous ”à la Chantilly” cream. The cuisine is excellent, and I highly recommend it.

GGuest UserI had a wonderful stay at the Napoléon Hotel in Lille. The location is ideal, right across from the train station and a stone's throw from the city center, making it easy to get around on foot. The welcome was warm and professional, with a helpful and friendly staff. The room was comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. I particularly appreciated the quiet atmosphere despite the central location. The breakfast was varied and plentiful, a real bonus for starting the day off right. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to discover Lille in excellent conditions!

GGuest UserFairly good location but other Ibis hotels are right in the heart of the city for only a few pounds more. Ended up getting taxis home at night as there are some quite dark, lonely sections on the road home. Service was excellent for such an affordable hotel- staff brought extra pillow on request, iron and ironing board, they were always smiling, polite and proficient. In the room, there was one small, high up window making the room feel dark and hot. We were on level 1, higher bedrooms seemed to have better windows. Mattress was comfortable but not attached or anchored in- it tended to surf away from the hard headboard and your one pillow then fell down between the gap. The pillows themselves were crap- I felt like a I was sleeping on a water balloon- when you rested your head on one section, it would go flat and inflate the other. We requested extras because I had recently had surgery and needed extra support and one extra was provided. I ended up using towels for extra support which was less than ideal. Bathroom was clean, modern and had a nice, powerful shower. TV had access to Netflix and YouTube. The air conditioning was FANTASTIC and powerful when it was on but then it inexplicably would turn off maybe 2/3 times a night and the heat would wake us up which was a shame. We run hot and like a colder bedroom so this might not be a deal breaker for you but it’s very important for me and affected my quality of sleep.

GGuest UserI picked this hotel as it is ideally located near the channel tunnel. Literally about 5 minutes drive. My only issue was when checking in. I was extremely tired from having driven 7 hours to be told that my booking had not been paid for! I had 100% paid and I had the receipt to show them but it took them about half an hour to finally see that trip.com had sent the money. By this time I was at crying point as so tired I just wanted to go to my room. Bearing in mind they were both speaking in French so I didn’t have a clue what they were saying either, it was really stressful. I messaged trip.com and they were extremely helpful and the issue was sorted a few minutes after that, so I wish I’d done that in the beginning but was not sure what the problem was at that point as could not understand them. There was also a couple behind me who had the same problem. Once I’d got over that, the hotel itself was absolutely fine. I went back down to reception and the lady was really helpful with giving me directions etc. I didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that but I got a hot chocolate out of their machine for a few euros and that was really nice. The room was quite small but that didn’t bother me as just a place to sleep for the night before my journey the next day. I would stay here again as convenient for Chanel tunnel.

GGuest UserAn excellent address for people who want to visit Lille. It is located less than a mile a way from the station. And it’s easy to get to sights. The hostel is very clean and the service is great. A good place ran by friendly people. The breakfast is amazing by hostel standards as you get bread, cheese, ham, olives, yoghurt, cereals, hot drink and orange juice. There are also some community activities/workshops going on, but haven’t experienced these.

MmharsnClose to a metro station, but not close to any of the sites. Still, they are within walking distance and there are plenty of restaurants in the area. The food court / common room is nice, with lots of couches and power outlets. It closes at night though, and then there is no place to go except back to your room. The dorm rooms have air conditioning, which is nice. Mattresses and pillows are very comfortable. Good Wi-Fi throughout. The morning and daytime front desk staff is very friendly and helpful.
