Wootton Village Hall Comedy Night January 2025 | Wootton Village Hall
Jan 11, 2025 (UTC+0)
Hall
Wootton Comedy Club Saturday 11thJanuary 2025. 8pm Our always sold out comedy club is back with a bang to kick off your New Year in fine style as we bring you some of the best that the UK stand-up circuit has to offer. Featuring Ben van Der Velde, Kate Lucas, Andrew White and headline by multi-award winner David Eagle! Do note that line ups are subject to change David Eagle Since 2005, David Eagle has been a member of three-time BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winning band The Young'uns , well-known for their comedy, with the Guardian writing in their 5& review: a rampant humour which occasionally makes them appear more like standup comedians, mercilessly mocking one another and involving the audience at every turn ... The Young’uns were bravely emotional but also very funny, thanks to the constant banter from Eagle ... In 2018, David started performing standup. He has been crowned New Comedian Of The Year by Leicester square Theatre and at Bath Comedy Festival and Nottingham Comedy Festival. David is blind, and his comedy often explores how his disability means the most ordinary, commonplace events are turned into surreal and convoluted dramas. Occasionally he dons his accordion (often as a spiteful repost to hecklers) and performs one of his comedy songs, such as his George Formby parody, described by the Guardian as a comic tour de force. “Performing comedy for year, David Eagle is a genuine stand up rookie phenomenon! Looking forward to hearing more.” Reginald D Hunter “constantly hilarious, gag on gag, leaving an audience gasping in admiration, and applause that goes on for minutes.” Bath Echo Ben Van der Velde is a stand-up comedian, actor, improviser and presenter. Over the past few years, has spread joy and nonsense to all four corners of the British Isles, as well as Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Norway. Outside the circuit, Ben has performed a voodoo re-marriage ceremony, founded the Church of the Holy Kazoo with comedy legend Mark Thomas, and walked the entire London Underground network to raise money for The Refugee Council. ‘Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue.’ Edinburgh Festivals Magazine ‘Turns lazy stereotypes and political messes into biting, personal, satire.’ **** Ed Fringe Review KATE LUCAS Award winning musical comedian Kate Lucas is known for her razor sharp and deliciously dark songs. She combines catchy melodies with original lyrics to showcase her playfully bitter musings on life. Audiences have come to expect examples of what not to say and how not to behave from this gloriously talented comic. Wickedly naughty and deliciously dark. ★★★★ Broadway Baby Comedy perfection. ★★★★★ To Do List Andrew White Flamboyantly repressed and optimistically cynical, Andrew White is a stand-up fast rising through the comedy ranks with an act that's not to be missed (Daily Record).
Andrew performs all over the country at various clubs, festivals, and corporate events throughout the year.
Very exciting and very funny Joe Lycett

But let us not despair. In these days of powerful text-to-code, image-to-video and water-to-wine generative models, it is natural for your weak human mind to feel lost and ashamed. This is why Tech Roast Show is on a mission - visiting every major tech hub across US and India - to remind terrified human techies: you are not useless. Inefficient? Yes. Flawed? Yes. Replaceable? Very. But - as long as you still have cash - you possess unextracted value. There is hope, purpose and community to be found in buying tickets now. Buy tickets now to hear our message of hope.
