Join tutor Janina Maher at the Gel Plate Printing – Inspired by Nature workshop, where participants will explore the fascinating world of monoprinting using gel plates. This unique printing method involves pulling one-off prints from a gelatine-like base plate, resulting in beautiful, nature-inspired creations. Whether you're new to gel plate printing or looking for fresh ideas, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn and experiment.
During the workshop, Janina will provide a quick overview of the tools and materials involved, as well as demonstrate various mark making techniques. Participants will have the chance to explore printing with natural items such as leaves, grasses, and feathers, as well as learn how to create and use nature-themed stencils and masks.
To ensure a successful workshop experience, participants are requested to bring an apron, gel plate, acrylic paint in a variety of colors, assorted A4 paper, a roller, leaves and grasses from the garden, pencils, tools for cutting out stencils, baby wipes, kitchen towel, and scrap paper. Optional items include nature-related images for stencil-making and any previous gel plate prints for further experimentation.
If you do not have a gel plate, there will be some available to borrow or purchase at the workshop. Please contact Janina in advance if you would like to reserve one. The recommended brands are Gelli Arts and Gel Press, with the 8" by 10" size being highly versatile.
