Art enthusiasts in Malden are invited to join Art Classes @ The Brewery for an engaging session on the often-overlooked element of art: TEXTURE. Led by Lisa L. Sears, participants will delve into frottage, a technique involving rubbings taken from diverse surfaces to create the illusion of texture. This method, cherished by both young learners and Surrealist artists, employs dry mediums like colored pencils, crayons, and graphite, as well as glue, to craft a variety of flat textures for collaging onto paper. Through rubbing, tearing, and experimenting with patterns, attendees will combine different textures and materials to produce unique artworks. This event is perfect for those interested in a night of creativity and exploration, especially individuals keen on collaging, textures, or artistic play. Participants are encouraged to bring their preferred scissors and colored or textured paper, although all necessary materials will be provided. The session, taking place on May 7, 2024, at Idle Hands Craft Ales, promises an evening of artistry and fun. Tickets are priced at $35, with no prior experience required. Refunds are available if requested at least one day before the event, in the form of a credit for future classes within a year.
