Youth Under The Rainbow: Building Bridges is a free 6-week program designed for 2SLGBTQ+ youth and allies between the ages of 8 and 12. The program is a collaboration between Artshine and Spectrum, two organizations committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for young individuals.
During these classes, participants will have the opportunity to make connections and form new friendships. The projects offered in the program go beyond traditional art, allowing youth to express themselves through various mediums. From painting themselves into the picture to creating lovely charms for friends, these classes offer a unique and creative experience.
Led by the talented instructor Sonia Nadeau (She/Her), who has illustrated multiple children's books and animation projects, participants will receive step-by-step instructions to help them explore their artistic skills. The program will cover a range of activities, including using 3D pens, working with air dry clay, improving sketching abilities, and experimenting with paint and canvas.

Join Janice for an engaging and comprehensive class, "Portraits in Acrylic with Janice (In Person)", where attendees will have the opportunity to discover a fresh and quick approach to painting two different portrait styles. This four-week class will take place on Saturdays, starting from January 27 until February 17, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Homer Watson House & Gallery in Kitchener.
Suitable for both teens and adults, this class will provide step-by-step guidance on creating stunning acrylic on canvas paintings using photo references. Janice will walk you through the process, helping you complete two paintings on two 12 x 16 inch or larger regular depth stretched canvases. The required reference photos, printed on 8 1/2 x 11-inch copy paper, will be provided.
To get started, make sure to bring your own 4 oz Acrylic tube paints in titanium white, burnt umber, ultramarine blue, cadmium red medium, lemon yellow, and yellow ochre. Janice highly recommends using Liquitex brand paints for the best results. All other necessary materials will be provided.
