Join the artist talk with Harun Morrison at The Exchange in Penzance on Saturday, February 10, 2024. This event is an opportunity to learn more about Morrison's work and creative practice as an artist and writer. As an associate artist with Greenpeace UK, Morrison will discuss his Storm Warning Commission and share his experience in tackling environmental issues. Following the talk, Morrison will host a discursive workshop using his Environmental Justice cards, which aim to foster conversations and critical thinking about the environment and climate change. This workshop is open to everyone, but it may be of particular interest to activists and those in education who want to explore these topics further. Be sure to book separately for the workshop. Harun Morrison is an artist and writer based on the UK inland waterways. His work has been exhibited internationally, including group exhibitions in Romania and Hungary as part of the European Capital of Culture 2023 program. He has also had solo exhibitions in London, the Netherlands, and Birmingham. Led by Maya Ronchetti, an accomplished artist and teaching assistant, this workshop will explore the fascinating world of beavers and their impact on the environment. Did you know that beavers are often referred to as nature's ecosystem engineers? Through drawing, sculpting, and play, children will have the opportunity to become beavers for an afternoon and discover how these creatures influence their surroundings. All materials will be provided, but it is recommended that children wear old clothes as things may get messy! Maya Ronchetti, who was an artist in residence at Cabilla Cornwall in 2022, has a deep understanding of the importance of creativity in children's lives. Cabilla Cornwall, an upland hill farm on Bodmin Moor, is home to over 100 acres of nationally rare temperate rainforest habitat. The reintroduction of beavers on their site is a vital part of Cabilla's rewilding strategy and their affiliation with the Rewilding Britain Network.
