Celebration
The South Australian Contemporary Artists Festival (SALA) is a statewide visual arts festival. It aims to promote and celebrate the many talented visual artists in South Australia, and its mission has been, and remains, to expand the audience for visual arts and to allow artists of all levels and using any medium to participate in the annual SALA festival held in August. SALA originated in 1998, initiated by the Australian Commercial Gallery Association to promote and celebrate local South Australian artists. Initially a week-long festival covering approximately 40 venues, it has now grown into a major event spanning August, covering over 600 venues across the state, and bringing together more than 9,000 artists.
