On Television Johnny played ‘Max’ in FX's “You're The Worst”, the title character on the FOX series Son of Zorn and has guest starred on numerous shows including “The New Girl” “Fresh off the Boat” “Kroll Show” and “Law & Order: SVU”. Johnny regularly tours as a stand-up comedian and has performed at Just for Laughs in Montreal and Toronto, the Moontower Comedy Festival, and SXSW. Johnny is also a voice artist featured on the animated shows “Pickle and Peanut” “Bob's Burgers” “Adventure Time” “Middlemost Post” and most recently The Midnight Gospel on Netflix on which he was also a contributing writer. We ask that all participants arrive 5 MINUTES prior to class. Meet AhalyaAhalya started dancing as a child, learning the fun and popular Bollywood dance moves at the time. This love for dance continued to grow and ultimately culminated in joining a competitive dance team in college. Ahalya led the University of Pennsylvania's garba-raas team as choreography chair in her junior year, and as captain in her senior year. Like most dancers, she loves choreographing and performing, but the one thing she loves most is teaching. Her favorite part about garba-raas is the contagious energy, and how powerful the moves are. She has 4+ years of experience in choreography, 2+ years of experience teaching, and has been to several collegiate competitions in both the Raas circuit and Fusion circuit (as a guest dancer on Penn Dhamaka). Ahalya spends much of her free time at dance classes learning other styles like hip-hop, Bollywood, and South Indian.

ABOUT BILL SUMMERS Bill Summers is a Billboard Music Award winner and multi-Grammy Award nominee. The opening drum groove that Bill Summers wrote and produced with his bandmates on The Headhunters 1975 track “God Make Me Funky” has been sampled over 300 times by the likes of DMX, 2Pac, Beastie Boys, Santana, and Digable Planets Bill is in Seattle to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of jazz/fusion band The Headhunters and album release of Live from Brooklyn Bowl at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley 9/17 & 9/18. Bill Summers is a New Orleans-based multi-instrumentalist and producer. The Detroit, Michigan native studied classical piano, but morphed into a percussionist as he came of age. Now recognized as one of the elders of world beat rhythms, he specializes in percussion and has published the definitive book on Cuban spiritual bata drum techniques. Summers has served on the forefront of the jazz fusion movement, and is best known for his work with Herbie Hancock, and The Headhunters, which he has co-led since 1975. He recorded eight albums with his own band, Summer’s Heat, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and had hits with the singles “Straight to the Bank” and “Call It What You Want.” He has recorded ten releases with Hancock, starting with “Head Hunters” in 1973 and the 1998 Hancock Records album “Return of The Headhunters.” He has recorded and performed with a slew of musical greats, including Eddie Henderson, David “Fathead” Newman, Carlos Santana, Jerry Garcia, Anita Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Stevie Wonder, Jay Z, Barry White, Jill Scott, Prince, and a host of others. Summers has also worked extensively in film, most notably with Quincy Jones on the soundtracks to “Roots,” “The Wiz,” and “The Color Purple.” In recent years, he has developed educational programs to study sacred drumming in Cuba and the New Orleans-based Klub K.I.D., a program to educate young people about music traditions. In Youthprov, students learn the fundamentals of good improvisation through games and exercises. The games are fun and entertaining but also a creative process that encourages support, active listening, being present, and intelligent risk-taking on and off the stage. We help teens build self-confidence, public speaking ability, and cooperation all while having a blast! Our classes boost our student's confidence, curiosity, and creativity. Improv teaches us to accept mistakes as gifts and communicate thoughts and ideas more effectively. AND, ... IT'S FUN! The focus is on creating ensemble work in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. Students have a blast, make friends and gain incredible life skills. Discover the world of the Elizabethan theatre even if you have never seen or read a single play by William Shakespeare. This workshop will explore the techniques and approaches that will help you paint with all of the colors of the world’s most recognized playwright. Students will improvise scenes, perform monologues and play games based around the exercises in this workshop. Date: Sunday 9/22 Time: 10:30 - 3pm with a half hour lunch Location: 5700 6th Ave S Suite 109 Seattle 98108 Maximum Students: 16 Cost: $130.00 Prerequisite: Improv 100 Teacher Bio: Alan Hawkins Improviser/Teacher/Facilitator Alan Hawkins is an improviser from Los Angeles and Chicago. He has been performing, directing, and teaching theater and improv since 2004. Alan is a graduate of The Second City Conservatory, The Second City Musical Conservatory, The iO West Program, The Chicago Comedysportz Training Center, and The Annoyance program. He has been fortunate enough to participate in many festivals across the US with the three-man group Extra Shelves and has been a guest player with Grand Theft Improv in London, UK. He was also an instructor and director for the Teen Comedy Festival in Chicago. Alan is an ensemble member of Unexpected Productions, the longest-running Theatersports theater in America. He's also the author of the book YOU CAN'T LEARN IMPROV FROM A BOOK. NOTE: Please note that this class has a great deal of movement and action. Take an introduction to the foundations of Hip-Hop class to expand your improv skill set. Learn how to incorporate rhythm and poetry into your improv scenes with ease. Improv games serve as gateways to the Five Pillars of Hip-Hop, teaching students how to create entirely improvised hip-hop songs. By combining fundamentals of improv with free-styling, beat-boxing, and crowd techniques, students gain a deeper understanding of hip-hop and how to use these elements to enhance scene work and have fun on stage. Dates: Six (6) Tuesdays, September 24 - October 29 Time: 7:00pm-9:30 pm Location: 650 S Orcas Suite 101, Seattle 98108 Maximum Students: 14 Cost: $275 Prerequisite: Improv 100 or equivalent or by teacher approval Ages: 18+ Instructor: Dre Anderson Unexpected Productions’ ensemble member, Dre Anderson is excited to teach Fundamentals of Improvised Hip Hop at the Improv School.
