Music Concerts
Tom and Kalissa will draw on the vast catalogue of their 3 bands, as well as original compositions penned specifically for this project. You'll be treated to a range of genres - Celtic, Folk, Singer-Songwriter, Latin, Mexican, and Roots - sung in both English and Spanish to represent their respective Mexican and Chilean heritages. In addition, they'll lean on folk musical idioms such as Celtic, Roots, and Americana. Tom and Kalissa have a lovely vocal harmony blend, and draw the listener in with great songs played on fiddle, guitar, and jarana (Mexican 8 string guitar). Perhaps one of the most endearing things about the couple is their relaxed and genuine stage banter, and the stories about the songs. www.cubbyholeartists.com PLEASE NOTE: We have put aside seats accessible for people with limited mobility, as well as wheelchair spots. Please call our office at 306 232-5332 for more information! Information Source: Station Arts Centre | eventbrite

**We recommend booking direct via thecomedyrooms.co.uk to avoid inflated fees.** Join us for a night of fun and laughter. Tickets start from just £11.50 each for a group of 4! The line-up includes: Mike Gunn Mike Gunn’s history is as interesting and entertaining as his comedy. A misspent youth and a series of grim jobs cultivated his cynical outlook on life and a perverse desire led him to the world of stand-up. A self-confessed pessimist, he describes himself as “not a natural choice for a career in laughter”. He has a rare ability to walk close to the line of what audiences find acceptable and yet still remain likable and funny. His reputation for being a bit unfriendly, a touch dark and even morose is really not true. In real life he’s loving, warm and philanthropic. Just a bit misunderstood. Mike Cox Mike has been performing comedy since 2011 and quickly made his mark on the comedy scene with his sharp witted observational style which saw him crowned South Coast Comedian of the Year in 2014 and the Not So New Comedian of the Year in 2022. Kyrah Gray South London born and raised, Kyrah began her comedy career in 2019 during her last year of University. Her rise on the comedy circuit has been impactful, securing impressive gigs at clubs up and down the country as well as supporting White Yardie on his most recent tour. Kyrah has a huge online presence and has performed for Comedy Central Live, starred in Netflix’s YouTube sketch What Would You Do? with Harry Pinero, and has her first arena performance under her belt with Mo Gilligan’s Black British Takeover at The O2. Dan Fardell Comedian and cat-whisperer. Born in Crawley. Raised in Clapham. Now in Brighton. He likes jokes, cats and food. Combine all three and he's yours for life. The band formed in 2022, when we started talking about doing a different kind of big band using technology usually found in the pop field. So as well as the traditional band, for arrangements that need more than we can provide on the spur of the moment, technology is used to provide anything from strings to percussion (and even a lion roar in one arrangement - see if you can spot that!) in a seamless mix of warm air (the humans) and something called Ableton (the technology). This allows the band to manage all sorts of tracks, from all sorts of eras, all while maintaining a sounds and feel which suits all ages, and all ears, and for the moment, not a hint of Glenn Miller! HOST The Stroll gallery | Stella A&C VENUE The Stroll gallery, Unit 504, 5F, Vanta Industrial Centre, 21-23 Tai Lin Pai Road, Kwai Chung DATE 2 Novmber (Saturday) 2024 – 7 December (Saturday) 2024 HOURS Tuesday– Saturday, 11am – 7pm PARTICIPATING ARTIST Kajin Kim About the Exhibition Korean multidisciplinary artist Kajin Kim's solo exhibition will be held at The Stroll Gallery by Stella A&C from November 2 to December 7. Through her diverse multimedia works, Kajin Kim has explored the complexity of the human desire to connect with one another in the everyday lives of modern individuals, who have become disembodied and mediated by the internet and media technology. The artist notes that while technological advancements have facilitated more convenient and unconstrained interpersonal connections, they have also led to extreme separation and disconnection in our direct, physical interactions. For Kim, this human deficiency translates into a longing for reaching mutual boundaries – 'touch'. The 'skin membrane' then emerges as a boundary dividing the interior and exterior of the body, as well as a device representing the scope of the self. Kim gives visual and spatial form to this concept of contact. She casts organic-looking images surrounded by membranes in translucent silicone or transfers them onto resin surfaces, installs them on thermoformed transparent acrylic. The light designed to penetrate these transparent surfaces creates and connects the dual spaces of the interior and exterior, penetrating and connecting to form a new sense of space. Yet, despite the distinct nature of this contact, an unbridgeable sense of distance lingers. While surfaces may touch, they do not truly meet; objects may be held, yet their essence remains unfelt. Through images that evoke a sense of overlapping rather than connection, Kim lays bare the profound loneliness and yearning that emerge from this closeness. This encapsulates the deep emptiness often experienced by modern individuals, with the tender imagery in her work serving as both a heartfelt tribute and a soothing balm. This exhibition marks Kajin Kim's first solo show in Hong Kong, where she aims to express the ideal sensory experience she envisions and the new forms of connection and exchange that can be attained through the senses. We hope the audience will be reminded of the physical sense of touch through the artist's delicately designed visual experience, and have the opportunity to explore new tactile and emotional connections. KajinKim (b.1992) (IG Link: @kajinkim / Website: kajin.kim) Kajin Kim is a Korean multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Seoul, Korea. She utilizes printed matter, moving image and installation to explore the complexities of mediation in the contemporary experience of physical disembodiment in our ever-changing society, especially in terms of the internet and media inundation. Disparate projections, transparent materials, iridescent surfaces and screens resonate with each other in her installations, creating an environment where images are touched, reflected, and looked through. Her work is a rumination on how, both in virtual and physical space, we as humans yearn for connection and intimacies without always being able to find it. Pierre Novellie in conversation Comedian Pierre Novellie was on stage when a heckler suggested he was autistic. Usually, this disruption would be water off a duck's back but two things made this heckler different: first, he was himself autistic. Second, he turned out to be absolutely right. This random encounter led to a diagnosis of autism at the age of 31 that unravelled his world, explained his struggles and answered questions that had bothered him for his entire life. He will be in conversation with writer and performer Erin McGathy, to discuss his book Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things?: A Comedian’s Guide to Autism, his late diagnosis and his writing process.
