In Salzburg, the Rupertikirtag (St. Rupert's Day Market), held each year in late September, is a city carnival that blends traditional customs, amusement rides, and authentic food, surpassing many Christmas markets in its liveliness!
Historic Rides: Historical attractions, such as the 1848 chain-link carousel, a vintage roller coaster, a ghost train, and a hand-cranked carousel, are open only during the festival and are closed the rest of the year.
Traditional Markets and Authentic Cuisine: Traditional stalls showcase handicrafts, wood carvings, pottery, honey, and more. Local delicacies such as grilled sausages, roast chicken, game, pretzels, potato dumplings, and Styrian products are everywhere.
Music Performances and Street Flashmobs: Traditional brass bands, country folk songs, theatre performances and a parade of Hanswurst mascots will continue throughout the day and into the evening, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.
