From January 30th to February 22nd, 2026, the Copenhagen Light Festival will be held in Copenhagen's city center and harbor area. Most of the artworks are outdoors, scattered along canals, bridges, and quiet alleyways. If you've never strolled through Copenhagen at night, now is the time. Lights reflect on the water, bicycles whiz by, and a tranquil yet exciting atmosphere fills the air. Put on warm clothes, grab a hot drink, and start your stroll; you'll see the city from a whole new perspective. The Copenhagen Light Festival brings together artists and designers from around the world to adorn the city with light art: these installations twinkle and shimmer, some even moving or interacting with pedestrians. You'll see illuminated sculptures along the water's edge, colorful projections on ancient buildings, and installations you can actually interact with. Each piece tells its own story; some are witty and humorous, some poetic, and some breathtakingly beautiful.

CPH:DOX, the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, is one of the world's largest documentary film festivals. It discovers the work of leading international talent and emerging artists, promising to present the best experimental films and videos in the film and visual arts. Staying true to its tradition, the program will screen a large number of documentaries, showcasing the world we live in from scientific, artistic, critical power, human nature, youth, experience, unwavering, witty, and utterly absurd perspectives. On 8 May, the Glyptotek opens a new exhibition centred on Edgar Degas’ enigmatic painting Dancers Practising in the Foyer and the research that has recently led to a proposed revised dating of the work. Degas’ Obsession delves into this single painting, exploring its history and its significance in understanding Degas’ artistic practice. Ballet scenes were a central theme in Edgar Degas’ career, yet Dancers Practising in the Foyer has long been difficult to place in relation to his other ballet paintings. The painting is immediately puzzling—seemingly not finished, with very unevenly applied paint layers, drastically different tones and a dominant shadow from a partially overpainted figure. These unexplained visual mysteries sparked what became an an extensive research project led by art historian Dr. Line Clausen Pedersen, in a collaboration between the Glyptotek and the Getty in Los Angeles.

collaboration between the Glyptotek and Copenhagen ContemporarySlated for fall 2025, the Glyptotek and Copenhagen Contemporary (CC) are pleased to announce the first solo exhibition in Denmark by artist Alia Farid.The exhibition is the third and final component of an ambitious series of exhibitions titled Hosting Histories - Revisiting Cultural Heritage of the Middle East and Beyond (2023-2025) developed in conjunction between Glyptotek and CC.Alia Farid (b.1985) lives and works in Kuwait and Puerto Rico. Her work explores the relationship of industrial practices and hand-made objects as a method of critical inquiry into the experience of being and belonging amid global precarity.Whether sculptures of drinking fountains in the shape of water vessels, enlarged amulets combining ancient and modern materials, or films witnessing the ecological consequences of extractive industries in the Global South, her work pushes against colonial narratives and explores how materials and forms transmute across time and space.

This exhibition begins with the Palmyra funerary portraits from the Griptotec Museum's collection. These portraits, once inlaid on the walls of magnificent family tombs, offer a rare perspective on how the Palmyras wished to be remembered: cosmopolitan citizens, adorned with dazzling jewelry, exquisitely styled, and dressed in luxurious textiles. The bilingual inscriptions in Aramaic and Greek further attest to the reality of social identity transcending language and culture at that time.

Join us for a day filled with exciting challenges, team-building activities, and leadership development. This in-person event is perfect for individuals looking to enhance their leadership skills in a fun and interactive environment. The Army in the South East Challenge Day provides an opportunity to take part in a series of team challenges delivered by the Army which will allow you to develop teamwork and leadership skills and learn about yourself whilst taking part in fun, interactive activities. For UNIFORMED YOUTH ORGANISATIONS ONLY (Aged 14+) Tickets must be booked through your organisation, not as individuals. The Army in the South East Challenge Day provides an opportunity to take part in a series of team challenges delivered by the Army which will allow you to develop teamwork and leadership skills and learn about yourself whilst taking part in fun, interactive activities. OVERVIEW We are looking for teams of up to 12 participants aged 14+ to take part in this event. If you have less than 10 participants, they will be grouped with others to make up a full team. You may enter more than one team. One ticket is for one individual, you will need to book as many tickets as you require to cover those attending. Individuals/teams will compete in a series of Army themed challenges, using teamwork, communication, and leadership skills to compete against other teams. Lunch for all participants and their team leader(s) will be provided via ration packs. These come in Meat, Vegetarian & Halal, if you have specific dietary requirements we recommend bringing your own packed lunch on the day. Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear to be worn (Sports kit acceptable) , coloured bibs (to be worn over clothing) and safety equipment will be provided by us. The aim of the event is to promote understanding and awareness of the Army with themed challenges amongst young people; seeking to raise their confidence, self-esteem, and resilience through a range of exciting and challenging activities. Participating groups are required to provide a minimum of one member of staff per team entered. That member of staff is to accompany the team and be responsible for the timings, discipline and safeguarding of their group throughout the day. Unaccompanied teams will not be allowed to participate.
