Dashain, also known as Vijaya Dashami (Victory Festival), is one of Nepal's grandest and most joyful festivals. During this holiday, families gather to celebrate their respective cultures and pay homage to the goddess Durga. The festival is filled with joy, rituals, decorations, and family reunions, making it a very special part of Nepali tradition. Dashin is celebrated primarily by Hindus and lasts for 15 days. It is usually held in September or October. In 2025, Dashain begins on September 22 (Ghatasthapana) and ends on October 6 (Kojagrat Purnima). The main date for Tikka is October 2. During the festival, people pray to the goddess Durga, hold grand celebrations, and demonstrate pride in Nepali culture. This festival is celebrated not only in Nepal but also by Nepalese people in Sikkim, Darjeeling, Bhutan, and Myanmar. It is a time for families to come together, receive blessings, and celebrate the tradition of unity.
