The Rueda Alliance Family gathers annually for Rueda Vacation, a week-long dance program in Cozumel, Mexico. Designed for Intermediate and above level dancers, the event features workshops led by 6 international Instructors exploring new trends in Rueda de Casino. Participants can register as Couple, Lead, Follow, or Switch Dancer, regardless of gender, at an Intermediate level. The program includes 16 hours of daytime workshops, 4 hours of evening workshops, Sunset Ruedas, and live music. Activities such as a luxury catamaran cruise, snorkeling, and a beach party with local dancers are also offered. VIP shuttle service is provided from CZM airport or the Cozumel Ferry terminal. Although ticket sales have ended for Rueda Vacation 2024, the event is scheduled to take place from March 17 to March 24 at Centro, Cozumel.

El Carnaval en Cozumel es un evento muy especial para los Cozumeleños. Con más de 150 años de tradición, las calles estarán llenas de la gente celebrando su cultura Caribeño con el Carnaval más grande del Mar Caribe. Entonces, ¿por qué no hacemos unos talleres especiales de Rueda de Casino también? Las Talleres van a ser de dos temas grandes. Rueda Caleidoscopio (La combinación de 3 Estructuras de Rueda, Rueda Llanta, Rueda Torno y Rueda Mixta) y TOCADOF (Un nuevo método de cantar la Rueda que se centra en las transiciones entre figuras y hace que la Rueda sea más espontánea.). El programa de baile está diseñado para bailadores experimentados de nivel intermedio y superior. Los talleres serán impartidos por 3 maestros mexicanos, Eduardo López Guzmán - EDI - Playa del Carmen, Miguel Ángel Diaz - Timba Sonica - Toluca , Daniel Rios - Ritmó Habana - Mérida - y el organizador, quien reside en Mexico 6 meses al año, Dave Mahoney - Cozumel Salsa Fusión - Cozumel. El programa de danza contará con 4 sesiones de 2 horas cada una. Cada Estructura de Rueda requiere 2 horas para aprenderla y practicar lo suficiente para retener el conocimiento. Las 2 horas restantes se utilizarán para aprender las transiciones entre las 3 estructuras Y bailaremos mucho. Cada una de las estructuras tiene figuras especiales que funcionan bien o fueron creadas específicamente para esa estructura. Aquí es donde entra el TOCADOF (Canto orientado a la transición y desarrollo de figuras). Los talleres se realizarán el sábado y el domingo de 10 a 12 y de 13 a 15, con 1 hora de descanso para comer. El lugar del taller cuenta con un buen restaurante y bar debajo de la pista de baile con precios razonables. Un aviso: la pista de baile es de cemento, pero no es lisa, es como para bailar en la calle. Recomendamos llevar zapatillas cómodas, no zapatos de baile finos. Los meseros tomarán nuestros pedidos temprano para tener la comida del almuerzo lista a las 12. El desayuno también se sirve a partir de las 8 am. Después de los talleres y un buen descanso, únete a toda la comunidad de Cozumel en La Esquina de la Salsa para ver los desfiles del Carnaval y bailar con nosotros en la calle. Cada año, nuestro academia Cozumel Salsa Fusión proporciona la música y los DJ's y también establece el tema de disfraces para Carnaval. Te avisaremos cuando se acerque la fecha. The Rueda Vacation concept was developed by Jose Barretto / Boston, Ma. USA in 2018, and since 2023, hosted by Dave Mahoney, Oregon, USA and Cozumel, Mexico. The Rueda Vacation program has been specifically designed to be a relaxed, authentic Mexican Vacation experience, with a Rueda de Casino focus. The workshops will be interesting and challenging for Intermediate and higher level Rueda de Casino dancers. There are no Beginner or Improver level workshops. Rueda Vacation is not an “All Inclusive” event like “SalsaNor Rueda Congress” or “CubaSon Congress”, but rather, an Intensive Rueda de Casino dance program only for experienced dancers to build their own Caribbean dance holiday around. Participants book their own accommodations in BnB's , apartments or hotels and choose from the many great restaurants, bars and clubs in this walkable island town. Our dance program with 6 International instructors already confirmed presents the most current developments and ideas in Rueda de Casino. There will be a total of 24 hours of workshops, nightly Sunset Ruedas on the Malecón, 2 days with beach activities, a Snorkel / Rueda in the Sea tour at the spectacular El Cielo and an opportunity to integrate with the lovely dance community of Cozumel Salsa Fusión, with whom I have been teaching for the past 3 years. El Cielo Snorkel / Rueda in the Sea Tour is an add-on activity. Includes snorkle gear, food, drinks and transportation. $50. Please reserve your spot by March 18, 2025 with an add-on ticket so we can arrange for the proper number of boats. Tour date is set for Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Saturday, March 22, we will cross the island to spend the afternoon at Mezcalito's, The Last Frontier, a Bohemien Style Beach Bar and Grill where you can swim, walk the beach or relax in a hammok and choose your favorite foods and beverages. Transportation provided. Lunch on your own. For an alternate activity, we can drop you off at San Gervasio Mayan Ruins, and pick you up on the way back to town. Either activity will be roughly 6 hours, 10-4. Saturday Night will also be our final closing party.
