Their extensive discography showcases their incredible talent and includes collaborations with esteemed composers such as György Ligeti and Eric Whitacre.
In 2023, The King's Singers released three diverse and collaborative albums that highlight their repertoire's breadth. These albums commemorate significant milestones, including the 400-year anniversary of the deaths of Thomas Weelkes and William Byrd, a celebration of commissioned music featuring György Ligeti, and a tribute to 100 years of Disney with fresh arrangements of iconic film songs. The group's dedication to expanding the choral music canon is evident in their commissioning of more than 200 works by renowned composers like Luciano Berio and John Tavener.
Formed in 1968 by six talented choral scholars from King's College, Cambridge, The King's Singers have maintained their unique formation of two countertenors, a tenor, two baritones, and a bass. Alongside their demanding performing and recording schedule, the group imparts their expertise through educational workshops and residential courses worldwide. To commemorate their 50th anniversary in 2018, they established The King's Singers Global Foundation, providing a platform for new music creation, coaching aspiring performers, and offering musical opportunities to all.

Join us for an unforgettable evening as we pay tribute to the incredible legacy of Lucille Clifton, Maryland's former Poet Laureate. This special event, titled "An Evening to Honor the Legacy of Lucille Clifton," will be held at the Nancy R. and Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center in Saint Marys City.
Prominent poets Martin Espada and John Murillo will be gracing us with their presence, captivating the audience with readings from their remarkable works. We are thrilled to announce that John Murillo will be receiving the prestigious 2024 Lucille Clifton Legacy Award during the event.
The evening will be hosted by Professor Karen Leona Anderson, director of the VOICES Reading Series, who will lead an engaging conversation with the poets. President Tuajuanda C. Jordan will also be in attendance to present the award.
Before the main event, there will be a reception and book signing in the Dodge Performing Arts Center lobby, starting at 6:00 p.m. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet the poets, get your books signed, and mingle with fellow poetry enthusiasts.
Martin Espada, a renowned poet, editor, essayist, and translator, will be sharing selections from his latest book, "Floaters," which recently won the 2021 National Book Award. His other notable works include "Vivas to Those Who Have Failed" and "The Trouble Ball." Espada's immense talent has garnered him numerous awards and fellowships, including the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize and the Guggenheim Fellowship.
John Murillo, author of the critically acclaimed poetry collections "Up Jump the Boogie" and "Kontemporary Amerikan Poetry," will also captivate the audience with his powerful words. His work has been recognized with awards such as the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and the Four Quartets Prize.
