Beams of light projected through a thin mist create large three-dimensional forms in space, which slowly shift and change. As you move through these translucent sculptures of light, you’ll create new shapes and discover your own mesmerising perspectives.
Occupying a space between sculpture, cinema, drawing, and performance, McCall is known for his innovative installations of light. In 1973, his seminal work Line Describing a Cone redefined the possibilities of sculpture.
Anthony McCall is presented in The George Economou Gallery.

This major exhibition will invite visitors to enter his world through an exploration of his unique aesthetic. Although best known for his film work, this exhibition will showcase his full range of work as an illustrator, painter, photographer and writer, and explore his significant collaborations with designers. As an interdisciplinary artist, his practice transcends the limitations of medium and format.
Drawing from Tim Burton's personal archive, the collection of drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving image works, sculptural installations, set and costume designs represents the artist's work from childhood to the present day, focusing on recurring visual themes and motifs in the distinctive characters and worlds of Burton's art and films.

From iconic royal residence of the past, to Olympic and Paralympic venue today, the Palace of Versailles is famous around the world for its opulent architecture and rich history. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it also became a major site of scientific thinking. Opening this December, Versailles: Science and Splendour will explore the important role science played at the Palace.
Visitors will be transported to the world of the French royal court to discover spectacular objects including Louis XV’s rhinoceros, an extraordinarily detailed map of the moon by Jean-Dominique Cassini and a beautiful sculptural clock evoking the creation of the world. The exhibition presents significant figures associated with the pursuit of knowledge at Versailles, including the pioneering Madame du Coudray, who trained thousands of midwives across rural France.

In collaboration with Captivate Spatial Modelling Research Group “uins evoke an aesthetics of disorder, surprise and sensuality, offering ghostly glimpses into the past and a tactile encounter with space and materiality.” (Tim Edensor - Industrial Ruins: Space, Aesthetics and Materiality). This site-specific performance will extend architectures through sound and projection to re-construct and re-animate the ruins of the St George's Garrison Church. Emerging from an interdisciplinary collaboration between Captivate Spatial Modeling Research Group, the SOUND/IMAGE Research Centre and sonic architect Nadine Schütz (newly appointed as Visiting Professor to the SOUND/IMAGE Research Centre) this event will showcase the work emerging from ongoing creative heritage research being undertaken at the University of Greenwich which enables new modes of engagement with sites and objects of historical significance to be developed and tested.
