Dublin Bach Cantatas Series 2025at St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street Concert 4: Sunday 2nd February 2025 • 3:30pm Artistic Director: Blánaid Murphy Dublin has a long and rich history of performing Johann Sebastian Bach’s sacred cantatas. Sunday afternoons at St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street were home to John Beckett’s ten-year series in the 1970s, with luminary soloists such as Bernadette Greevy, Frank Patterson and Irené Sandford. In the early 2000s, Lindsay Armstrong and the Orchestra of St. Cecilia took up the mantle, performing all of the cantatas from 2001 to 2010. Now, following a run of sold-out concerts in 2024, the series returns under the artistic direction of conductor Blánaid Murphy, one of Ireland’s foremost interpreters of Bach. Competitors' attention is drawn to the laws on copyright which prohibit the unauthorised photocopying of music. The RIAM assumes that anybody using photocopies has the permission of the publisher to do so.Time limits will be strictly observed and the adjudicator will be asked to terminate performances that exceed the time limit.Each competitor should ensure to sanitise their hands before and after their performance.In all cases, the decision of the adjudicator is final. The standard for award of first prize must be 85%, or second 80%. Result sheets will be disseminated to competitors by the adjudicator at the end of each competition. Certificates for prize-winners and commendations will be issued to teachers for distribution.Changes in the allocated performance time may only be made with specific permission from the Junior Office.
