A day of celebration and worship for all ages - as we seek to walk "in step with Jesus" together! We would love you to join us on this day of celebration and worship - as we start a journey of "finding His way" together as a Baptist family across Wales, seeking to keep in step with Jesus. We extend an invitation to churches and families across Wales to attend this day of worship, talks and workshops - for all ages. This year we begin a journey of 'Finding His Way' as followers of Jesus, as churches and in God's World. This is an invitation to be rooted in prayer, dynamic in mission and radical in discipleship. This year we will particularly focus on our journeys of faith with Jesus , and what that looks like in the 'secret place' of prayer, as well as in both the mountain-tops and valleys of life as followers of Jesus - together, and in this world. We are excited to be welcoming Dot Tyler from 24/7 Prayer as our Keynote Speaker this year! We will be exploring with Dot more of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus – listening to His voice, encountering His presence, and praying for His will to be done in ‘the secret place’ of prayer, which can powerfully impact our own everyday lives – as well as the world and people around us! We are excited to be partnering with 24-7 Prayer and other inspiring speakers who will help us to walk in pursuit of Jesus together. For children and young people there will be a dedicated programme, including: A creche space within the Halliwell theatre so parents and carers can still be involved in the main worship and talks. A stream for younger primary aged children (4-7 yr) A stream for the middle years (8-12 yr) ESGYN for teens in the Cwad cafe Order your tickets before bookings close at the end of May! The full programme will be available on our website shortly: www.buw.wales Information Source: Undeb Bedyddwyr Cymru / Baptist Union of Wales | eventbrite

The latest data from Sport Wales' "School Sports Survey" highlights a significant decrease in physical activity levels among children and young people in Carmarthenshire, which is cause for concern. The data also reveals disparities in participation based on factors such as affluence, gender, and disability. Despite our impressive programs, knowledgeable staff, and attractive resources, none of our organizations can address these issues alone. However, by working together, we can maximize our impact and make a difference to the right people in the right places in our county. Through the establishment of the Carmarthenshire Sports Network, we aim to improve communication, share best practices, enhance collaboration, and align resources to increase participation and improve the quality of services for the health and well-being of children and young people in Carmarthenshire. We look forward to your attendance at the first Carmarthenshire Sports Network meeting on December 18th at the Carmarthen Leisure Centre. Admission is free.

Sports & Fitness Running
The Soul Breaker 10 Trail Run is a highly popular and thrilling event that takes place in Carmarthen. This trail run offers both a 10km and 10-mile race, giving participants the opportunity to explore the picturesque old drovers trails of Drefach Felindre and the surrounding villages. Designed for those who love the excitement of off-road running, the Soul Breaker 10 has become a favorite among local trail runners. The routes are well-marked with approximately 200 arrows guiding runners throughout the course. Starting at Aspirations Outdoor Adventures, which is elevated at an impressive 1000 feet above sea level, the routes lead runners through farm fields before descending to the top of Cwmpengraig at just over 200 feet. From there, participants face a short climb up to Penboyr church at 550 feet, marking the first checkpoint. For the 10km race, this serves as the halfway point before turning back and facing the challenging ascent back to the start line, totaling 900 feet of ascent. Meanwhile, the 10-mile route takes runners on a more exhilarating journey. After the first checkpoint, participants join the 10km runners briefly before veering off to experience the excitement of the trails in three additional villages. With climbs not exceeding 400 feet, these seemingly small ascents accumulate to almost 1000 feet of additional ascent on top of the 10km route, providing a relentless challenge for the legs and lungs. At approximately 6 miles into the race, runners will find their second and final checkpoint, offering a brief respite before tackling the remaining challenges that bring them back onto the 10km route. In total, participants will have gained an impressive 1800+ feet of ascent. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants, the event organizers require runners to wear appropriate trail shoes with adequate grip for steep and muddy terrain, as well as fields and stoney tracks. Every participant will receive a unique medal and will be treated to a delicious selection of soup and cakes as a reward for their efforts. Additionally, the top male and female finishers in both distances will receive a special prize, with the opportunity for free entry into next year's race if any records are broken. In an effort to reduce plastic waste, the event will have self-service checkpoints, urging participants to bring their own water containers and ensuring all snacks are unwrapped and vegan or vegetarian friendly. Littering is strictly prohibited, with offenders facing disqualification. Don't miss out on this incredible trail running experience!

The Pendine Races, held on Pendine Sands Beach in Carmarthen, Wales, offer a variety of running options for participants. Whether you're interested in the 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, or Full Marathon, there's a race for everyone. The courses are designed to make the most of the beautiful beachside setting, with the 5k and 10k routes taking place on the beach itself, and the Half and Full Marathons incorporating a mix of beach and quiet lanes. It's worth noting that all races are Cup-Free, so participants are required to bring their own re-useable cup. The Full Marathon consists of a double loop along the full length of the beach, while the Half Marathon follows a single loop of the same course. The 10k and 5k races are out-and-back routes along the beach, with a clearly marked turning point. Running on the sand may sound challenging, but at Pendine, the firm sands make it an ideal surface for both regular and barefoot running. Start times for the races will be confirmed closer to the event date, as they are dependent on the tide-tables provided by the Pendine Beach Warden. Water stations will be available along the courses, with three for the Half and Full Marathon runners and two for the 5k and 10k participants. Parking is available at the pay and display carpark near Barnacles Cafe, and race numbers can be collected on the day of the event. If you're unable to attend the race, please note that registrations are non-refundable, but entry transfers or deferrals can be arranged up to four weeks before the event. Walkers are welcome to participate, although there are time limits of 4 hours for the Half Marathon and 7 hours for the Full Marathon. Participants must be at least 16 years old for the Half Marathon and 18 years old for the Marathon. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact the organizers. There's also an opportunity to run for free by raising money for the preferred charity. Entry fees range from £29 for the 5k and 10k races to £45 for the Full Marathon, with discounts available for group bookings. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners in each race category, and all finishers will receive a bespoke Pendine medal. To ensure the smooth running of the event, participants must complete the Half Marathon within 4 hours and the Full Marathon within 7 hours.
