In November of 2021, London stepped onto the international stage as Canada’s first UNESCO City of Music. Now #LdnOnt artists take the spotlight as London celebrates the second anniversary of the UNESCO designation. Come hear the stories behind the songs as the London Music Office teams up with the Words Festival to host a celebration of words and music. Music can convey the deepest of emotions. When paired with lyrics, a well-crafted song can take on an entirely new feeling and dimension. Join us at the Wolf Performance Hall as we focus our attention on the art of the songwriter during this multi-segment event we call, Words & Music. Over the course of the evening, our feature singer-songwriters will speak candidly about the art of songwriting through their personal experience and insight. We will begin with a discussion featuring 4 local songwriters who will explore how they transform thoughts, feelings, and ideas into lyrics and music. Our panel of artists will then pick up their instruments and perform intimate, scaled down renditions of their music, explaining how they wrote their songs and the meaning behind their lyrics. London is a member of the largest cultural network on the planet and one of 75 UNESCO Creative Cities of Music. Music brings community together and through this designation, London is using music to drive positive change in our community. Words & Music is sponsored by the Words Festival, the London Music Office, Tourism London, and the Wolf Hall.

Borough of Ghosts Solo Exhibition by Matthew Del Degan | Worth Gallery

Lovebot Creator Unveils New Fantasy Exhibit in Toronto Toronto, Ontario, October 8, 2024 – Multi-disciplinary artist Matthew Del Degan is set to debut his latest exploration into the world of fantasy with Borough of Ghosts, opening Friday, November 8th, 2024, at Worth Gallery. The exhibit, a haunting yet whimsical collection of paintings, illustrations, and sculptures, offers a first glimpse into two chapters from Del Degan’s forthcoming fantasy novel. I'm excited to share a new chapter of my creative journey with Borough of Ghosts. This exhibit is deeply personal, drawing from my own experiences of pain, redemption, and transformation,” says Matthew, “It's a story of love, courage and the inner battles we all face. I can't wait for people to meet Claire, experience her world, and witness the evolution of my work.” Determined to carve his own career path of becoming an entrepreneur, artist and author, Del Degan’s 2013 Toronto Love Invasion saw the introduction of concrete Lovebot sculptures and spawned a massive movement of strangers bearing their hearts around the world. While the success of this urban art project continues to be shared globally, Matthew is ready to reveal the next phase of his creative work, Borough of Ghosts. Borough of Ghosts serves as an introduction to a larger story, featuring the heroine Claire, an underwater princess on a quest to rescue her father and find inner peace. Drawing from personal experiences of pain, suffering, and liberation, the exhibit includes several large-scale, intricate paintings. The centerpiece of the show is a striking triptych depicting a twisted parade of monsters, anchoring the emotional core of the exhibition. Additionally, Del Degan will unveil an assortment of 30+ new Lovebot sculptures alongside this series. While many of these pieces are inspired by and complementary to the nautical themes of the exhibit, the one-of-a-kind “1st Of The Month” Lovebot collection also continues with several playful pieces on display. The exhibition will open on the evening of Friday, November 8, 2024, at Worth Gallery (830 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON) with an artist reception to mark the debut. The show will run for three weeks, featuring three special artist talks and Q&A sessions throughout its duration. About Matthew Del Degan Matthew Del Degan is a visionary Toronto-born artist, product designer, and entrepreneur, best known for creating the iconic Lovebot and launching the global movement The Love Invasion. A graduate of OCAD University’s Industrial Design program, Del Degan has built a diverse portfolio blending contemporary art, large-scale installations, and product design, reshaping how art interacts with public spaces. His work has been featured in MTV, Huffington Post, the Toronto Star, and more. With his latest exhibit, Borough of Ghosts, he continues to push creative boundaries, exploring new realms of fantasy storytelling through paintings, sculptures, and illustrations.
