Welcome to The Art of the Joke ! Comedian William Goulet Kean will teach you simple ways to make anything funny from a personal story to the driest presentation. The seminar will begin with the fundamentals of the psychology behind laughter and the components of a joke. Next, you'll be given simple comedy structures that can be inserted into any prepared topic and given ways to communicate so that your intended punchline lands. Finally, all of the learnings will culminate in a practical application of how to talk to your audience and tactics for unprepared jokes when things go off topic. About William Kean
William Kean has performed comedy almost his entire life. He has a BFA in Theater from NYU: Tisch. He toured the country with Improv4Kids, the Coast2Coast Comedy Tour, and FaceOffUnlimited. For the past decade he’s been a cast member of NYC’s live Japanese Game Show BATSU! as well and runs their standup show Laughter Party. In his private teaching practice, he currently coaches comedians around the world (16 states and 8 countries at the time of writing). And some of his work included helping Chase O’Donnell with her set “People Pleasure” which was put on both NPR and NYT’s “Best Comedy Albums of 2023” lists. The 86th year of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club, presented by the Lamarque Motor Company and sponsored by Crescent City Sports, returns on Tuesday, December 17 at noon at The Cannery on 3803 Toulouse Street in New Orleans with a stellar panel of speakers. The Club will meet once per month through December 17, when the annual awards luncheon will take place with all meetings to take place at The Cannery. The third annual Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club Baseball Bash, featuring all area college baseball coaches, will take place in January 2025. Lunch by Toulouse Gourmet Catering including salad, bread, entree and dessert is included at each meeting. The cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Annual membership is just $25.
