Moscow Teatralny Boulevard Festival | Moscow

May 30–Aug 30, 2026 (UTC+3)
Moscow
Celebration
The Theatre Avenue Festival will be held in Moscow from May 30 to August 30, 2026. This festival brings together performances from major Moscow theaters, independent companies, regional troupes, and drama schools. This year, the festival will expand its geographical scope: in addition to the usual venues, it will also include the Pushkin Embankment in Gorky Park and the embankment of the Kolomenskoye Museum Conservation Area. The Theatre Avenue Festival is an international open-air arts festival held in Moscow's outdoor venues during the summer. Its aim is to bring theatrical performances from traditional architecture into urban spaces, allowing more audiences to appreciate the arts. The festival was first held in 2024 as part of the "Moscow Summer" project. The main venue for this year's festival is the stage on the Pushkin Embankment in Gorky Park, where large-scale open-air musicals and theatrical works will be staged. The program includes: *Rogue and Classicism: Ideal Companions*, starring Pavel Drevyyanko and Boris Andrianov; *No Witnesses*, starring Oscar Kuchera; *The Psychopath*, starring Viktor and Ivan Dobronlavov; and the musical *Opera Without Butterflies*, starring Bolshoi Theatre soloist Erchin Azizov. One of the festival's main venues is an open-air theater on Pokrovsky Boulevard, hosting important performances from Russian and international theaters. Nearby, an interactive space themed around the theatrical profession, along with several themed areas, allows audiences to experience the backstage atmosphere.

Exhibitions
This exhibition is more than just aesthetic symbolism. The flowers convey profound symbolic meaning: roses represent love and passion, lilies symbolize purity and spirituality, wildflowers evoke simplicity and sincerity, and peonies convey warmth and optimism. Through floral imagery, artists express their experiences, memories, and dreams—a language that transcends time and resonates with everyone. The exhibition includes works by artists who served on the front lines, adding a unique depth. In their paintings, flowers possess a unique meaning: they become symbols of life, beauty, and hope, a fragile yet resilient force. Frontline soldier E.S. Zernova's sketch "Anemones" particularly showcases a fragile beauty. In addition to Zernova's work, the exhibition will also feature works by other artists who served on the front lines, including N.D. Khvatov, V.I. Makeev, A.G. Shikin, M.G. Bogatyrev, and A.A. Plastov. Contemporary artists continue this tradition, exploring the theme of beauty from a fresh perspective. They examine flowers from a contemporary perspective: employing new styles and techniques, experimenting with colors and compositions, but always adhering to the core belief that beauty has healing, inspirational, and heartwarming qualities that can ultimately save the world. Contemporary works in this exhibition include paintings by Vera Korshunova, Olga Melnikova, Konstantin Sereznev, Olga Stretskaya, Vladimir Cherny, and Olga Bogatreva. The exhibition also features the Royal Porcelain Factory's collection—exquisite floral-patterned porcelain, meticulously crafted molded porcelain flowers, and the "Own" tableware series from Tsarskoye Selo. These decorative and functional artworks complement the artistic narrative, demonstrating how the timeless beauty of nature can be embodied in ceramics. The painting's exquisite detail, noble and elegant form, and meticulous attention to detail highlight the aesthetic value of floral patterns, skillfully blending 18th-century tradition with modern aesthetic concepts. The "Beauty Saves the World" exhibition is a journey through time, where flowers are presented as a link connecting different eras. They remind us that life goes on even through hardship, and that beauty is not merely decoration, but a source of inner strength and the will to live. The delicate petals, vibrant colors, and subtle fragrance—all of this needs no translation to resonate with us.

Exhibitions
The exhibition, "People Reflect Their Character, People Reflect Their Love of Money," explores a key theme in Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov's novel *The Master and Margaret*—money as a force that tests humanity and reveals moral choices. In this work, money is not merely a detail of the era, but also a significant artistic image, permeating the narrative threads of both ancient times and the Soviet Union. This exhibition will guide visitors through monetary artifacts from two periods: the Jewish region in the first century AD and Soviet Moscow in the 1920s and 30s. The exhibition includes a section dedicated to ancient Judea, showcasing locally minted coins and Roman-era currency, and exploring the region's tax and financial systems. The centerpiece is a display case containing "Thirty Silver Coins"—four-drachma silver coins from Tyre, traditionally symbolizing the price of betrayal. A section on the 1920s and 30s explores the currency reforms of 1922-1924, the issuance of Chernvonets banknotes, the state's gold and foreign exchange policies, and the operations of the Torgeshin Shop. The exhibition displays all the major types of Soviet Chernvonets banknotes from 1922 to 1937, allowing visitors to trace their design evolution and connect real banknotes with scenes from the novel, including the famous Variety Theater scene. The exhibition also features rare Torgeshin Shop sales orders. Besides coins and banknotes, the exhibition also includes items that convey the atmosphere of the works. The highlight of the exhibition is the "Writer's Studio," which displays Bulgakov's personal belongings and a 1966 issue of the magazine *Moscow*, in which the novel was originally published.

Exhibitions
This exhibition traces the formation and development of the Soviet medal system from 1941 to 1945, showcasing how it evolved into a large-scale national and public recognition mechanism encompassing both the front lines and the rear. During the war, the Soviet medal system underwent profound changes: from an initial limited means of incentive, it developed into a comprehensive system of public recognition for heroism. Medals became not only symbols of individual courage and military bravery but also important policy tools for mobilizing society, boosting morale in the army and at home, and shaping the image of war heroes. The exhibition will display authentic medals and awards, as well as archival photographs from the war period. Descendants of war heroes, staff from the Victory Museum's research department, and medal experts will attend the opening ceremony. The exhibition features authentic medals and awards from the Victory Museum's collection, along with archival photographs documenting award ceremonies and battle scenes. The exhibits reveal the fates of those whose heroic deeds became part of the shared history of the great victory.

These parks will host literary nights where you can discuss novels set in these ancient manors. And theatrical performances set in the manors will help you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of centuries past.

Exhibitions
On December 9, 2022, on the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland, the Victory Museum hosted the opening of the exhibition project "Zавем Верны", which is dedicated to modern Heroes of Russia - participants of the SVO. On an area of 250 sq.m., visitors to the Museum are presented with about 1000 stories of the exploits of participants in the special military operation and the Great Patriotic War, drawing parallels between the heroic deeds of the past and present, helping the visitor to realize that the role of heroism in our days is as serious as before. For example, Senior Lieutenant Maxim Peskovoy, in an unequal battle with neo-Nazis, saved his comrades from the explosion of an enemy grenade, covering it with his body, and Private Klavdiy Krasnoyarov covered the embrasure of an enemy machine gun with his body. Both young fighters received the title of Hero. Or paramedic Ekaterina Ivanova, who covered a seriously wounded soldier from an enemy shell, was wounded, but saved his life, and lieutenant Vera Kashcheeva, during the crossing of the Dnieper under enemy fire, carried out 20 wounded soldiers with their personal weapons. A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to modern war correspondents and their role in covering the events in Donbass during the SVO. Video materials of leading war correspondents are presented - interviews with soldiers, stories from the scene. During the opening of the exhibition, the launch of the action "Letter to a soldier" took place, within the framework of which any visitor to the Museum could write and send a letter to a Russian soldier. Particular attention in the exposition is given to the Memorial Complex of Donbass - "Saur-Mogila", as a symbol of liberation from Nazism. A copy of one of the bas-reliefs dedicated to the participants of the SVO became a unifying element of the entire exhibition. The exhibition uses modern multimedia solutions: projections and light and sound accompaniment, which will immerse visitors in the events of 80 years ago and the present, in order to fully understand the greatness of the heroes' exploits. The project is being prepared
