Join the Bowman's and Moor Barton Wilding for an exploration of this unique wildlife haven - walk, talk and visit the Beaver enclosure! The event will run from 3pm - 9pm. There will be an initial visit to the Beaver enclosure to look at the dams and habitat changes, followed by a walk back to the glade, frog breeding area, scrub, pasture and woodland with a talk about the rewilding project. At about 7pm we will return to the beaver enclosure hopefully to see the Beavers, although this cannot be guaranteed! Visitors are advised to bring binoculars and something to sit on. Robin Bowman & Moor Barton Wilding Robin Bowman has run nature connection, wilderness skills & awareness events and camps with a variety of organisations, charities & schools for over 20 years. He shares his skills, knowledge & experience with deeply engaging stories, an infectious passion for nature & playful humour. Robin’s lifelong love of nature & wildlife, began as a child with a fascination for birds and has since called him to the cutting edge of the rewilding movement in Britain. He teaches on the subject at Embercombe, Schumacher, the Old Way Immersion. He founded Moor Barton Wilding about 10 years ago. Moor Barton Wilding CIC , is a 120 acre haven on the North East shoulder of Dartmoor dedicated to rewilding, land & people. The land is made up of a mosaic of ecologically rich habitats – including wood pasture, hazel coppice, transitional edge & wildflower glades, closed canopy woodland, wetland, veteran trees & conifer woodland. In 2022, five Beavers arrived from Scotland & have since transformed their area of the cannibalised Trenchford stream, into a complex & ecologically rich wetland. Each autumn & winter a small herd of Dartmoor ponies graze the rides & glades. More recently Moor Barton Wilding has been part of the Devon Wildlife Trust’s Two Moors Pine Marten Project. Believing that Humans are part of nature with a key role to play in restoring our ecological systems, Moor Barton Wilding engages communities near & far, offering many opportunities to learn about & get involved in different aspects of rewilding.
