The Tehama County Arts Council in Red Bluff, CA is hosting a 6-week course on Intermediate Acrylic Painting. This course is designed for individuals who have a basic understanding of acrylic painting and are 16 years of age or older. Led by the talented artist instructor Toni Gaylord, this course will focus on teaching advanced acrylic techniques to help students enhance their painting skills. Participants will have the opportunity to explore different preparations, mediums, and techniques that will help them develop their painting knowledge and create original artwork in their own unique style. Throughout the course, students will work on subject matter of their choice while learning how to effectively manipulate acrylic paint to achieve their desired results. This 6-week course will cover various techniques and principles each week, building upon the knowledge gained in previous sessions. All necessary materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own favorite supplies if desired. The course will take place on the following Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00pm: 10/24, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, & 12/5. Please note that there is a maximum class limit of 10 participants, and the course is open to ages 16 and up. The instructor, Toni Gaylord, is a local artist with over 30 years of experience in painting with acrylics. The first-ever Halfling run event will be on Saturday, April 12th, 2025. The Halfling will start with a 5K, but will eventually include a 10K and a half-marathon. Gates open at 9 am, and the run kicks off at 10. The Halfling 5K will be a fun, all-ages event, as well as a fundraiser for the Whittenberg Schoolhouse Project. Ticket prices: By March 12th (a month or more in advance): $10 youth (4-14) & $20 adult From March 13th to April 11th (within a month): $12.50 youth (4-14) & $25 adult April 12th (the day of the event): $15 youth (4-14) & $30 adult There will also be the quarter-mile loop-at-the-school option, which will cost just $5 in advance (or $10 at the event). Each lap is a quarter-mile, so if one wants to run or walk the whole 5K, that would be just over a dozen laps, but one would be able to do fewer (or more), as one wanted. There is also the option, for runners & non-runners, to get a $10 Elevenses early luncheon of either a hamburger or hotdog, along with chips & a drink. Lunch tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event itself. Finally, there will be a Family Ticket Package and a Family Lunch Package, which is good for the parents and all of their minor children in an immediate family, for just $60 & $40, respectively.
