In a bold move, he abandoned traditional brushes in 1986 and began painting with his fingers, a technique that defined his career. Roostaei coined the term "Cryptorealism" in 1990 to describe his artistic approach, highlighting the layered imagery and hidden meaning in his vibrant works. His compositions range from mythical to everyday themes, inviting active participation from the observer to uncover the concealed forms beneath the vivid layers of paint. After a successful artistic journey in Germany, Roostaei settled in Los Angeles in 2000, seeking spiritual and perceptual freedom.
