This landmark exhibition is the largest ever held, displaying prized works from one of India’s most remarkable dynasties. Between 1761 and 1799, Haider Ali and his son Tipu Sultan ruled Mysore, becoming the most persistent obstacle to British empire-building. In the words of Tipu Sultan, “it is better to live as a tiger for a day than as a sheep for a hundred years”. He died fighting against the East India Company in 1799, but his legacy lives on in the artefacts created during this short dynasty.

Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) is proud to announce its latest special exhibition, “Busana: Traditional Costumes of the Malay World”, which opens its doors to the public from 12 December 2025 to 12 April 2026 in Special Gallery 1. It is part of the museum’s ongoing commitment to preserving the heritage of the Malay world — a historical realm with shared cultural traditions spanning present-day Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, southern Thailand and the Philippines. This landmark showcase brings together the museum’s celebrated textile-based collection in an immersive exhibition that explores the diversity, refinement and cultural depth of traditional Malay attire. Combining artefacts with archival photographs, the exhibition sheds light on the historical dimensions of one of the most significant aspects of the Malay world: its distinguished and glorified textile and costume traditions.

Angeline Wong is a veteran singer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with nearly 30 years of experience in the music industry. She is best known for her work in Mandarin pop and classic oldies. Angeline has performed extensively in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, and other countries. To date, she has released 18 albums, including 6 Platinum and 5 Gold records. In 2016, she won the Best Female Singer award in the “Local Original Classic Style” category at the AIM Chinese Music Awards. YY Wong is a highly respected Malaysian Mandarin pop singer with a strong international fan base spanning Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Thailand. From 2017 onward, she held solo concerts for three consecutive years at the Genting International Showroom, titled I Believe. She has released 12 albums in Mandarin and Cantonese, and her album ‘Wo Wen Tian’ received a Platinum Award from Singapore’s Feng Chao Record Company for surpassing 20,000 copies in sales. Kenny Wong is a seasoned Malaysian singer with over 30 years of stage experience. He is an artist under Soundlife Records and has released 10 solo albums. Kenny has achieved remarkable success in singing competitions, winning 2 World Championships, 3 Asian Championships, and an impressive 468 National Championship titles. Kelvin Wong is a singer and music professional from Malaysia, as well as the founder of Mite Entertainment Production. In addition to performing, he is actively involved in music planning, production, recording, and mixing. He was named one of the Top 10 Most Popular Getai Singers at the Singapore Getai Star Awards in 2018. Kelvin has performed frequently in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and released his single “Yan Yu Jiang Nan” in 2025.
