The seven-time Grammy-winning Paul Winter Consort, with beloved vocalist Theresa Thomason, will present the timeless music of their legendary Winter Solstice Celebration, in a joyous and profound celebration of this season of renewal and the greater family of life. Their concert at Woolsey Hall will be the first time they have presented their Winter Solstice Celebration in Connecticut. Says Paul Winter Woolsey is my favorite concert hall in America. The concert will present the essence of our Solstice Celebration: the music. For the past four decades, Paul and the Consort have presented their annual Winter Solstice Celebration in the world's largest Cathedral, New York's St. John the Divine, in an event that became New York's holiday alternative to The Nutcracker and Radio City's Christmas Spectacular. The Consort will include Paul Winter on soprano sax, cellist Eugene Friesen, Brazilian pianist Henrique Eisenmann, Bulgarian bassist Peter Slavov, Brazilian drummer Rogerio Boccato, and the renowned voice of Theresa Thomason. “Central to all the traditions of solstice is the renewal of spirit,” Paul notes, “symbolized by the rebirth of the sun. Winter solstice is a time for healing and hope; it is a time to celebrate community and relatedness; and a time to honor the diversity and the unity of the great cornucopia of life on Earth. Remembering the solstice, we resonate once again with the rhythm of the cosmos and allow our hearts to embrace the optimism of our ancient knowledge that the light will overcome the darkness.” Information Source: Paul Winter | eventbrite

In our professional lives, the work is often the result of many different perspectives and contributors—the client, a collaborator, sometimes the friend of someone’s cousin who took a class in college. But when the project you’re working on is self-driven, the only person deciding the narrative is you. “Self-ish” is a new speaker series about the stories, motivation, and renewing creative energy behind the personal work of our fellow creatives. For this upcoming event, the CADC presents Zeb Mayer, a former designer at New Haven's own, Box 8 Creative. Zeb is an illustrator and branding identity designer based in CT and NYC. Specializing in building and art directing regional brands, he maintains collaborative relationships with freelancers and other design firms . Zeb's work primarily focuses on the hospitality industry, consumer packaged goods, and community driven events. See some of Zeb's work here. In a stacked setlist of original pop, rock, gospel, and R&B bangers, OBIE Award winner Whitney White subverts one of Shakespeare’s most iconic tales. The arc of Lady Macbeth is reimagined as the story of an ambitious Black woman, told through her own contemporary perspective of femininity, desire, and power with a capital P. Dazzlingly theatrical, Macbeth in Stride brings Lady M’s herstory into the 21st century with energy, humor, and swagger to spare. Information Source: The UPN | eventbrite
