The June Festival is a series of summer festivals held in July (the sixth month of the old calendar) at various shrines and temples throughout the prefecture, with each festival taking place on a day designated by the shrine or temple itself. The Rokugatsu-do (Rokugatsu-do) has a long history and has been a successful seasonal event in Kagoshima during the summer. In the courtyards of shrines and temples, lanterns made of wooden sticks and Japanese paper are strung together along rope nets, adorned with various illustrations and messages. There are also many shops along the roadside. These shops, the atmosphere of the shrines and temples, and the lanterns together create a very dreamy and fantastical atmosphere. In Kagoshima City, these festivals are held almost every evening in July and continue until the end of the month. The "Terukuni Shrine June Festival," held annually on July 15th and 16th, is one of the largest June Festivals in Kagoshima Prefecture.

The Kinko Bay Fireworks Festival is the largest fireworks festival in Kagoshima, with more than 15,000 fireworks, and the Kyushu 2-foot-tama fireworks. The background music is Japanese classical music and world-famous piano music. Along with the fireworks festival, there are also fun temple fairs, interesting recreational projects, and many seasonal goods and snacks.
