In 2026, the Toyota Electric Power Festival, held in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, will celebrate its 58th anniversary. The festival is divided into three parts: "My Town's Support Electric Power" from June 6th (Saturday) to July 5th (Sunday), the "Support Electric Power Grand Dance" on July 25th (Saturday), and a fireworks display on July 26th (Sunday). The themes of this year's festival are "We Love Toyota," "Discover Its Charm," and "Hometown Festival," aiming to evoke pride and love for the local area. The fireworks display, created by renowned pyrotechnicians from all over Japan, includes melodious fireworks, handheld fireworks, and a Niagara Falls-style fireworks waterfall, illuminating the night sky. This fireworks display is one of the largest in the Tokai region, featuring not only melodious fireworks perfectly synchronized with music, but also a magnificent Niagara Falls-style fireworks show that paints the night sky gold. In addition, the performance incorporates local traditional elements such as handheld fireworks, creating a diverse and colorful program.

The Osu Summer Festival is a grand event held annually from late July to early August, taking place over a weekend at the Osu Kannon Temple and Osu Shopping Street. Besides the familiar cosplay parade, Osu taiko drum performances, and handheld fireworks, there are many other interesting activities this year. A Bon Odori festival will also be held, along with food stalls. In recent years, the "landscape painting theory," which sparked heated debate around the 1970s, has once again attracted attention. As the importance of the "landscape" imagery in shifting perspectives becomes increasingly prominent in today's rapidly changing world, it seems time to revisit the landscape paintings created by Shinya Hita since the second half of the 20th century. This exhibition will showcase approximately 120 works by Shinya Hita from the 1960s to the present, along with previously unpublished materials, reviewing the artist's career, re-examining the essence of his "landscape" and "painting," and exploring the insights we can gain from them.

Gatahara Onsen is one of the most popular hot springs in Gamagori City, offering stunning views of Mikawa Bay. The nearby Hodaike area is known as the "Hydrangea Village," where approximately 50,000 hydrangeas bloom along the paths. As night falls, lights illuminate the flowers, offering a completely different spectacle from the daytime. A month-long Hydrangea Festival is held annually from June 1st to 30th, attracting around 100,000 visitors to admire the beautiful blossoms. Limited-time shuttle bus services, various exhibitions, photography contests, and other exciting activities are also available during the festival.

This is the largest fireworks festival in the Higashi-Mikawa region, held in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture since the Edo period. On July 18th (Friday), handheld fireworks, large cannons, and scattered fireworks, originating from Yoshida Shrine, will be launched from within the shrine grounds. Handheld fireworks are a traditional type of firework unique to the region, where the flame burns in the hand when launched. On July 19th (Saturday), approximately 12,000 fireworks, including aerial fireworks, starlight fireworks, and water fireworks, will be launched from barges floating on the Toyokawa River, illuminating the night sky. The most eye-catching feature is the 140-meter-long giant starlight fireworks display on the Toyokawa Riverbed. Various other exciting programs are also included, such as riverside stage fireworks and an 8-inch fireworks competition. Before sunset, a rare daytime fireworks display will be held, offering visitors a breathtaking and smoky spectacle.

The 71st Ichinomiya Tanabata Festival is a textile appreciation festival featuring a grand procession of sacrificial garments, the Ichinomiya Festival, a cosplay parade, and the Bon Odori dance, lasting four days. It also includes various popular events such as community stages, dance competitions, and talk shows, ensuring enjoyment for visitors of all ages, from children to adults. The entire venue is decorated with colorful Tanabata decorations, such as ribbons and arches.

One of Japan's three major river festivals, the Owari-Tsushima Tenno Festival boasts a history of nearly 600 years and is considered one of the most spectacular summer festivals in Japan. The evening festival begins when the lanterns of the Gocha Makiwara boats floating on the Tenno River are lit. As the Makiwara boats glide through the Tenno River playing the Tsushima flute, the swaying lanterns reflected on the water further accentuate the beauty of the Makiwara boats, reaching the climax of the dramatic interplay of light and water.
