From April 11 to May 31, 2026, Hoshino Resorts' BEB5 Tsuchiura will host a "Butterfly Flower Blooming" event themed around the beautiful blue nemophila flowers of Ibaraki Prefecture. This event, in collaboration with Hitachi Seaside Park, allows guests to enjoy the spectacular nemophila flowers, a representative springtime spectacle of Ibaraki Prefecture, even from within the hotel. In addition to projecting a blue glow across the entire area, visitors can also experience the nemophila flowers through five senses, including limited-edition candies and candle scoops.

The Shimotsu Gion Festival is one of the prefecture's most important summer festivals, lasting four days and centered around the Haguro Shrine in Ōmachi. The magnificent Meiji portable shrine, the "Women's Portable Shrine" enshrining Princess Tamayori (which is also enshrined at Haguro Shrine), the "Heisei Portable Shrine," the largest portable shrine in Japan held annually since 1992, and over 30 children's portable shrines from the town, parade through the streets. On the morning of the final day, a purification ceremony called "Kawawa" is held on the Kogyo River, which flows through the city, to cleanse and purify the impurities accumulated at the portable shrines during the festival.

This fireworks festival will be held at Lake Chiba, near the center of Mito City in Ibaraki Prefecture. As part of the Mito Komon Festival, approximately 5,000 fireworks are expected to be launched. Various unique fireworks will be set off, and you can also enjoy their reflection on the lake. Paid viewing areas are available for a more relaxed viewing experience.
