The Sakaide Bridge Festival, held annually in midsummer in Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, will celebrate its 61st anniversary in 2026 with a fireworks display over the sea on August 11th (a public holiday). Against the backdrop of the brightly lit Seto Ohashi Bridge, approximately 5,000 fireworks will be launched from barges off Sakaide Port, illuminating the night sky in sync with music, creating a spectacular sight. Fireworks of various sizes will change with the rhythm of the music, with a breathtaking display of large fireworks, including the "Akadama" (a giant firework with a diameter of 10 inches), exploding in succession.

What does that title signify— Is it "Substitute" or "The Chosen One"? The answer remains unclear. Yet, in this long-run tour starting in Japan, I can distinctly feel something different from before—an unwavering presence that belongs to ayu.

In Kannonji City, Kagawa Prefecture, the most famous summer festival is undoubtedly the Zenigata Festival. The 61st Zenigata Festival will be held on July 18th (Saturday) and 19th (Sunday), 2026. The first day's fireworks display will light up the night sky above Kannonji Temple in the form of musical fireworks. The fireworks viewing area is located at the mouth of the Tadagawa River (behind the Kotobiki Corridor). The main venue opens at 6 PM, with admission limited to the first 700 people. In addition, there will be a student music festival, a "Zenigata Live Concert" suitable for all ages, and many other events held in five different venues, including "Zenigata Night Show." A spectacular large-scale fireworks display will light up the night sky and illuminate the mouth of the Tadagawa River. This magnificent fireworks display, recreating the glory of the past, is not to be missed.

This year's fireworks festival is being held in Tadozu Town, Nakatado District, Kagawa Prefecture. This annual summer event attracts many local residents and people from the surrounding areas. The fireworks display can be enjoyed not only around Tadozu Port but also from Momoyo Park, which offers panoramic views of Tadozu Town, providing a magnificent spectacle from afar. Food stalls are also set up around the venue, allowing you to fully enjoy the summer festival atmosphere.

The Sanuki Takamatsu Festival is held annually from August 12th to 14th in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, with a fireworks display on the second day. In 2026, 6,000 fireworks will illuminate the night sky and sea in a spectacular 30-minute display. The festival also offers a variety of programs, including large-scale dances. Conveniently located just a 4-minute walk from JR Takamatsu Station, the festival grounds are surrounded by food stalls, creating a lively atmosphere.
