StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Blended Learning Certification Course | Iwakuni

Get your StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Certification at the IronWorks Main Gym. This class is from Dec 21 – 23 from 11am to 5 pm. for $150, covering essential lifeguarding techniques, water rescue skills, CPR/AED training, and first aid protocols. All supplies are included in the course. Open to all base personnel. Limited spots available! This is a blended learning course, and online content will be sent no later than 1 week before the course and MUST be completed prior to the first day of class. Please note that participants are required to pass a pre-requisite swimming evaluation before they can attend the Lifeguard Certification Course. If a participant does not pass the pre-requisite, they will be eligible for a full refund of the course fee. However, once the lifeguard certification course has commenced, the fee becomes non-refundable if a participant does not pass the course. Active duty requiring American Red Cross certification, please contact the Aquatics Office (253-4966). Successful completion of the Lifeguard Course will result in the following certifications for one year: Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED. Students must be 15 years old on or before the last day of the course and must be able to pass the prerequisite skills down below: • Swim 300 meters continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. You may use front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. • Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs keeping your arms crossed and hands under the armpits. • Surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface. No goggles are authorized to be used in this event. • All pre-requisites will be completed at the beginning of the course. To provide an opportunity for participants to strengthen relationships with their family members, friends, colleagues, and neighbors through fun activities as well as strengthen the bond between the U.S. and Japan. Teams of 4-15 Runners run a 1.4KM relay course for 3 hours and compete for the most laps to win prizes. Participation Age: 6 years and older Qualifications: Age 6 and older who can run a lap without parental support. Participants are not permitted to run carrying a child in their arms, on their backs, or using baby carriers. Jogging Strollers are not permitted. Runners who are blind or with disabilities are welcome to participate in the race and must have a partner to provide assistance. However, service dogs and wheelchairs are not permitted on the running course. Categories for teams: - General (Anyone ages 6 & older) - International (Combination of Japanese and foreign nationals) - Elementary School Students (Elementary school students only) - Workplace (Colleagues at work) - Sweets Lovers (Anyone ages 6 & older) Registration fees and instructions: - Ages 19 & older: ¥2,000 per runner - Ages 16-18: ¥1,500 per runner - Ages 6-15: ¥1,000 per runner Team lead will sign up on EventBrite. To complete registration, the team lead must submit the completed registration form received in the confirmation email, and the total participant fees, to the staff at the Lotus Cultural Center. Come out to our Annual Jingle Bell Jog fun run! You will get an opportunity run/walk a 2K/4K in your favorite Holiday Costume. This event is open to all SOFA, JMSDF, and MLC/IHA participants.There will be a costume contest for adults, children, and pets.
