The 2023 MCBH Norwegian Foot March is an event open to active duty uniformed personnel. It has a rich history, dating back to 1915 when it was first held as a test of marching endurance for soldiers in the Norwegian Military. The goal was to enable troops to efficiently be combat ready even after the march by carrying their rucksack and weaponry of 11 kg. Over the years, the event has evolved and now aims to stimulate the general interest in marching over extended distances amongst military and civilian personnel. Participants will take on a 30km/18.6mile march with a rucksack weighing at least 25lbs. Exceeding 30lbs is not recommended. The attire for the march is the approved military uniform, including military grade boots. Participants who qualify will be presented with a certificate of qualification level (bronze, silver, gold). It is recommended for all participants to have a headlamp and a glow belt wrapped around their pack. Spots for the event will be limited to 250 participants, with a waitlist available. Taking place on December 3rd from 1-4pm at Battery Wallace #2 on Old Conzelman Road in Mill Valley, CA, this interactive learning experience will be limited to ensure an intimate and immersive session. During the playshop, attendees will discover the incredible acoustics of Battery Wallace, two concrete WWII bunkers, and take walks in the nearby woods for inspiration. The session will include exercises to play while strolling amidst the trees and birds, allowing participants to fully connect with the music and nature. The event will also feature crystal bowls, handpans, gongs, and other instruments, creating a harmonious symphony with the flutes. Tickets for this extraordinary playshop are available for $50 in advance, providing a fantastic opportunity to explore the soothing sounds of the flute and immerse oneself in the healing power of music.
