Participants will have the opportunity to make and sample homemade mozzerella cheese with this hands-on class. All materials are provided. Pre-registration is required, space is limited. Botanical Drawing 2 is the second part of of the presentation. Join Sandra Bryan, Master Gardener Volunteer to learn more about Botanical Drawing 2. Date: July 19, 2025 Time: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm Speaker: Master Gardener Volunteer Sandra Bryan Location: UF/IFAS Extension Lake County, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares, FL 32778 - Auditorium Cost: $5.00 Location: UF/IFAS Extension Lake County - Auditorium, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares, FL 32778 - Auditorium Botanical drawing is a form of art that focuses on the accurate and detailed depiction of plants, often for scientific or educational purposes. It combines artistic skill with botanical knowledge to represent plants with precision and clarity. Attendees should bring a black crayon, conte crayon or large 3B pencil. You will also need a large pad of newsprint paper and a hard surface to draw on. Newsprint is the same paper as packing paper and packing paper is less expensive. We will discuss the four fundamentals of beginning drawing and performing exercises drawing plants. We will be drawing in the garden, in the event of uncooperative weather, we will move to the Horticultural Learning Center on sight. Think you can’t draw? Yes, you can! The Florida First Detector Program is an educational initiative by the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) that aims to equip stakeholders—including nursery and landscape professionals, Extension agents, Master Gardeners, and the public—with the tools and knowledge to detect and report invasive pests and plant diseases early. Through workshops, the program supports the early detection and rapid response efforts critical to protecting Florida’s diverse agricultural and natural ecosystems. We are very excited to announce our A Gardening Celebration, Fall Festival of Plants & Learning hosted by the Lake County Master Gardener Volunteers to be held in The Discovery Gardens, on October 11 & 12, 2025. The event will be held at the Lake County Extension Center, Discovery Gardens in Tavares located at 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares, FL 32778. This event includes speaker presentations by local plant vendors, garden experts, live demos, and workshops, kids' discovery zone - hands-on nature activities, plant walk, garden bingo, creative hands-on flower and garden projects, guided Discovery Garden Tours, - local food trucks and much, much more. If you are interested, register online at: http://lakediscoverygardensprograms.eventbrite.com/ or in person with a check or cash, the non-refundable fee on or before Seotember 1, 2025. Space is limited and is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. We invite you to participate by showcasing your services/products at our fair. Cancellations or refunds will not be permitted or accepted after Monday September 1, 2025. Exhibit/Food Vendor spaces are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be assigned for you. While changes in location might be able to be accommodated, they are not guaranteed.
