FREE Frida Kahlo Portrait Workshop | Lewisville Grand Theater
Arts
VAL is excited to present the FREE Frida Kahlo Portrait Workshop, led by the esteemed artist and VAL member, Jose Angel Hernandez. This workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to create their very own portrait of the iconic Frida Kahlo. Each participant will receive a canvas with a pre-painted background and a basic sketch of Frida, allowing them to dive right into the creative process.
Whether you are an experienced artist or have never picked up a paintbrush before, all levels are welcome to join us. The Visual Art League will provide the necessary paints and canvas, utilizing water soluble oil paints that are not only easy to clean up but also eliminate any harsh odors typically associated with traditional oil paints.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own brushes, such as a #8 flat brush, a #8 round brush, smaller brushes, and a palette knife if available. However, we will have a variety of brushes and palette knives on hand for those who need them.
During the workshop, we will take a 30-minute lunch break, so please bring your own food and beverage or explore the nearby restaurants.
Following the completion of the artworks, they will be publicly displayed in a dedicated showcase at the renowned Grand Theater. This exhibition will honor National Hispanic Heritage Month throughout October. Participants will be notified when they can collect their artwork and take it home.
Additionally, all participants are invited to a special event at the Lewisville Grand Theater on September 23 from 2 pm to 6 pm. This event will feature a documentary film about Frida Kahlo, followed by an engaging art talk with local Hispanic artists discussing The Frida Kahlo Effect.
Don't miss this FREE Frida Kahlo Portrait Workshop, a remarkable opportunity to explore your artistic talents and pay tribute to the legendary Frida Kahlo.
