Service was great and food was served quickly. Their 9pm-close offering is also pretty appealing. It was a bit loud in there for me but it was also just my mood. The patio is a great option if you want something quieter. Great job, guys! Review 2: Superb service. Fantastic food. Perfect patio. Immediately felt the “run by grandkids of immigrants” vibe with all the decor and cool servers. Got our rowdy kids some crayons and cleaned up our messes before we even had to ask. Ordered the Hot Fire pizza - did not disappoint! Regret not trying the happy hour drinks menu.

SERIES DANCE 10 #51 / ‘’Accumulation’’ by Co. Erasga Dance (la version française suit) October 24,25,26 / 7 :30pm / ODD BOX / Doors open at 7 pm In Accumulation, the assemblage, association, manipulation, contemplation and recycling of stuff and waste stirs the creative and artists consciousness becoming our realities to an earthly crisis. Choreography and Performance Alvin Erasga Tolentino (Canada) Composer/Musician Emmanuel Mailly (France) Sculptor/Visual Artist Marc Gerenton (France) Costume Designer Meagan Woods (New York, USA) Lighting Tory Ip (Canada) Stage Management Yasuhiro Okada (Canada) Accumulation is a transcontinental performance project by Co.ERASGA Dance in collaboration with the participating artists from New York and France. This timely, creative project aims to fuse the hybridity of multiple disciplines towards performance perspective and experience. Body, dance, movements, sound, costume, sculpture and visual objects in the making and experiencing for the stage. The piece seeks to question our human relational, place and time on environmental concerns faced by an alarming future never before for our natural world. The project sets human-made objects, debris and nature’s remnants as our surroundings, an encounter of our human consumptions and excess. The deterioration of the natural world is set centre stage, a landscape for a hunting, moving dance and sculptural choreography. Accumulation responds to and challenges the creative venture towards art and environmental stewardship. Can we raise and push creative minds, resources, practices and concerns to attune our creativity to an alarming and devastating fragile ecologies? What does the earth ask of us - Robin Wall Kimmerer Alvin Erasga Tolentino is one of the most active Asian/Canadian dance artists contributing 3 decades to the dance milieu and internationally as a choreographer and dancer. He is the founding and artistic director of Vancouver based Co.ERASGA. Exploring issues of gender, identity, hybridity, cultural re-dress and cross-cultural collaborations, Tolentino's choreographic works in SOLA, BATO/stone, MINORI, VOLT, FIELD, SHE SAID, OrienTik/Portrait, BODYGlass, PARADIS/PARADISE, ADAMEVE, SHADOW MACHINE, Expose, Shifting Geography, Colonial, Unwrapping Culture and Collected Traces and Still Here, as well with his award-winning explorations of dance on film, have made him an ambassador for dance in Canada reaching 4 continents in the last 2 decades. companyerasgadance.ca ------------------------------------------------------------- SÉRIE DANSE 10 no 51 présente ’Accumulation’’Company Erasga Dance Society 24,25,26 octobre 2024 / 19h30 / ODD BOX Ouverture des portes à 19 h Dans Accumulation, l’assemblage, l’association, la manipulation, la contemplation et le recyclage d’objets et de déchets éveillent la conscience créative des artistes, la réalité qui prévaut dans la crise terrestre. Brownman's HALLOWEEN THRILLER (Hamilton) 2024 - MJ as electric-jazz, 8pm | Laidlaw United Church
Oct 26, 2024 (UTC-5)ENDED
Ottawa
HALLOWEEN THRILLER 2024 :: www.Thriller.Brownman.comAcclaimed jazz / hip-hop trumpet player BROWNMAN ALI will once again lead an all-star quartet through his popular annual Halloween Thriller concert, this year travelling to multiple cities across Southern Ontario. The much lauded BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO + 1 will perform the entire Michael Jackson Thriller recording, interpreted and re-worked in the Miles Davis-esque fashion this multiple National Jazz Award winning improviser has become known for. In addition to the quartet performing Thriller from top to bottom, other MJ classics will be featured through the night for this unique Halloween Series jazz party at Hamilton's Laidlaw United Church. This show features as it's +1 acclaimed keyboardist NICK MACLEAN, a rising star in Toronto's jazz community, signee to Brownman's Browntasauras Records label & winner of 10 Global Music Awards, standing alongside 2 of Toronto's most in demand musicians : MATT GRUEBNER on bass (from New Zealand, now in Canada), and ADAM MANSFIELD on drums (a 22-year old drumset phenom), all under the direction of 2x National Jazz Award winning modern jazz trumpet iconoclast BROWNMAN ALI. Please visit www.Thriller.Brownman.com for more info on this year's Halloween Thriller Series. Delving so deeply into that record always leaves us speechless , states Ali. Michael birthed so many incredible tunes over the years, but his collaborations with Quincy Jones on Thriller has to be one of the most towering musical achievements in pop music ever. Using that brilliant material every year on Halloween, as jump-offs for what we do makes for a party that's both danceable, but still rooted in exploratory improvising and deep reaching solos. We approach it the way Miles might have. The BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO has won a National Jazz Award, 3 Toronto Independent Music Awards, a SOCAN music award, a CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award, and an International Independent Music Award for Jazz-Funk album of the year for their latest release Gravitation , which hit number 4 on the iTunes USA jazz charts upon it's release. “Awards are nice, naturally, but to dig what Brownman is doing, you’ve got to see him live. I had a chance to do just that over the summer when Brownman fronted his killer trio ... I came away with a blown mind. This guy’s got chops galore, soul to match, and a sense of phrasing that recalls many of the greats, but suggests itself to be his own.”-- The Buffalo News on the latest slew of awards for the Brownman Electryc Trio---- Sat-Oct-26 -- HAMILTON @ Laidlaw United Church 155 Ottawa St., N., Hamilton, ON, L8H 3Z2 www.LaidlawChurch.ca 7:00pm -- doors 8:00pm -- show $20 -- advance seated $15 -- students / arts worker $25 -- at-the-door standing on show-night (if space available) *** food and drink provided by MERK Snackbar! www.MerkSnackBar.com ---- :: Brownman Ali - electric trumpet & spookiness

Splitting his time between Toronto and New York, he tirelessly leads 8 unique ensembles of his own including the internationally acclaimed Miles Davis influenced BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO, and the award-winning CRUZAO latin-jazz quintet. All these ensembles record under Brownman's own much lauded BROWNTASAURAS RECORDS label, established in 2009. Andante con moto - allegro PROGRAM NOTE: It’s almost too easy to describe Brahms’s late music as ‘autumnal’, but until I find a better word for it, I’m going to keep on doing it. The stories of Brahms’s clarinet/viola sonatas (as a pianist, I get to play them no matter what - I’ll leave the debate about which instrument they really should be for to the clarinetists and violists!) is a well known one: in 1890, Brahms decided he was retiring, and that he’d written his last piece. In 1891, he heard the clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld perform Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, and was so inspired by Mühlfeld’s playing and the sound of the clarinet that he came out of retirement, writing a series of masterworks involving the clarinet (sorry, violists, this might be a point in favour of the clarinet). These two sonatas were the last two pieces he wrote, completing them in July 1894. Both pieces have a sense of deep inner peace, even in their many moments of excitement. They are the perfect last two statements of a long life of musical experience and wisdom. Between the sonatas, we’ll play a selection of Brahms’s gorgeous songs for voice and piano, with David’s viola singing its heart out in its rich alto voice.
