Covering various plying techniques; standard 2-Ply, Chain Plying, Spiral Ply, Cable , intro to art yarn plying. £65 (including non refundable booking fee) including materials. Looking to take your hand spun yarns to the next step? Come along to my introduction to Plying Workshop where I will guide you through the various techniques from basic 2 ply yarn to art yarns. We will also look at the purpose of plying and how to measure the balance of yarn. Skill level: This workshop is suitable for advanced beginner or those wishing to expand their existing skills. this workshop will cover the following plying techniques: Standard 2-Ply Chain Plying Spiral Ply Cable Intro to art yarn plying A fun and friendly workshop with a group of like-minded creatives. All materials are provided as well as refreshments. There will be spinning wheels to use for the workshop, however you are welcome to bring your own spinning wheel. (Please let us know if you are bringing your own wheel so that we can offer an additonal place) We truly belive creativity has a huge positive effect on your wellbeing! Bring friends or make new ones while crafting These sessions are aimed at adults. Cancellation and a full refund (less the non refundable booking fee) can be obtained up to 30 days before the course starts. In exceptional circumstances we will try to rearrange another date. On May 15th 1924, the world premier of Dracula took place at The Grand Theatre on Babington Lane, Derby.Produced by Hamilton Deane, this adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula became the blueprint for The Count as we know them today, a character portrayed by Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and a wealth of performers across stage and screen.Regularly included in the most important fictitious characters of all time, discover Derby’s links to the world’s most famous vampire, including Deane’s original adaptation and Lugosi’s performance at Derby Hippodrome.The exhibition includes objects on loan from Dacre Stoker (descendant of Bram), The Dracula Society and The Hammer Script Archive spanning 100 years of Dracula in Derby, a must see for fans of the macabre and vampire enthusiasts.

Public information sessions for all those interested in DHBT's new 'Buildings at Risk' digital app project. Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust 'Buildings at Risk' app Launch- Bolsover Event Details: Public information sessions for all those interested in DHBT's 'Buildings at Risk' digital app project. You will be introduced to the B@R app, developed by our colleagues at the West Midlands Historic Buildings Trust with support from Historic England, and the purpose of the project as well as being provided with initial training. These meetings offer the chance to speak with the DHBT team, get hands-on support with the app, and enjoy refreshments. Each meeting will have two parts: 1. An introduction to the aims of the B@R app project followed by a quick guide to using the app and the short online training module. A Q&A will follow this part of the meeting along with refreshments. 2. This part of the meeting is for those who would like practical support downloading the app, completing their training and joining the DHBT project on Mergin Maps. These steps can be completed at home for those that prefer to work through them at their own pace. Detailed instructions for how to get set up are available on the DHBT website. Please note: You will not be able to join the DHBT B@R project on Mergin Maps until you have completed your training and volunteer registration. We look forward to seeing you there! If you are unable to attend our event on Friday 5 th June, you can attend our second session on Tuesday 9 th June, 6.30-8.30pm at Barrow Hill Memorial Hall. Optional details: To help speed up your registration process, you can download the Mergin Maps app in advance of the meeting by searching for 'Mergin Maps' in your smart device's app store. You do not need to create your own workspace, as once you have completed your training you will be invited to join ours. It is also recommended (but not essential) to bring your smartphone or tablet, particularly if you would like support setting up the app. Date, Time and Location: • Friday 5th June, 2-4pm – The Main Hall, Bolsover Assembly Hall Community Centre, Hill Top, Bolsover, S44 6NG The Venue: Bolsover Assembly Hall is located close to the historic centre of Bolsover town on Hill Top, just off Station Road. It was originally built in 1866 as a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel and served as a place of worship until a new chapel was built in 1897. The building then became a Sunday School before being sensitively restored and transitioning into use as a community centre. Parking and Transport: The Assembly Hall has a small car park which is free of charge to use, with two accessible parking bays. Alternative parking can be found with the nearest car parks just a short walk away at the Town End and Bolsover Castle car parks. There are frequent and regular bus services that stop at the Market Place Bus Stop on Town End, a two-minute walk away from the Assembly Hall.
