The South East Awards 2024 SURREY Heat, organized by the South East Region, presents an excellent opportunity for RAD students in the South East Region, aged 8-17, to participate in a captivating ballet class and compete for a place in the prestigious Awards Day final. This particular heat will feature three classes, each catering to students studying Grade 2 to Intermediate under RAD teachers. The highly anticipated Grand Finals will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the esteemed RAD HQ. With a cash prize of £300 awaiting the winner of each of the three Grand Finals classes, the stakes are high. Furthermore, the first and second runners up in each class will also be awarded prizes. To be eligible, candidates must meet the age requirement of 8-17 years and fulfill the class prerequisites by December 1, 2023. Interested participants should note that they must enroll in the heat held in the county where they attend classes with their RAD teacher. For instance, if a student resides in Hampshire but attends classes in Surrey, they must enter the Surrey heat. It is essential to carefully select the appropriate class at the correct venue when making a booking. Class A is open to individuals who have passed RAD Grade 1 or higher but have not yet taken Grade 3. Class B welcomes those who have passed RAD Grade 3 or higher but have not yet taken Grade 5 or any of the Vocational examinations. This exciting group ride takes place on two of the Triangle's original and most renowned mountain bike trails, 286 and Lake Crabtree. Whether you're an advanced rider or just starting out, there's a trail for everyone to enjoy. Look out for fellow riders on Trek bikes congregating around the picnic tables. Depending on the size of the group, we may split into 2 or 3 groups to accommodate varying skill levels. The advanced group will tackle the challenging 286 and Lake Crabtree trails, while the intermediate and beginner riders can choose between the two, based on their preferences. The ride will commence with the fast group, averaging 8-10 mph over a distance of 15 miles, followed by the more leisurely-paced group, averaging 4-6 mph for 6-8 miles.
