Officially known as the TCS London Marathon, the marathon is open to anyone who is willing to commit, train and run to the finish line. The route runs straight through the city centre, passing the Thames, Blackheath and Greenwich, making it a great way to see London on foot for the first time. Along the way, you'll also see attractions such as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and the London Eye. Founded by New York City Marathon winner Christ Brasher, the event's mission is to get people all over the world running, while running for whatever cause they choose. The 2026 London Central Chinese New Year celebrations, organized by the London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA), will be held from February 21st to 22nd. The central London celebrations usually take place in the West End, stretching from Shaftesbury Avenue to Trafalgar Square. During the Lunar New Year period, London hosts a spectacular Chinese New Year parade featuring colorful floats and Europe's largest lion and dragon dance performance. The celebrations also typically include lively activities and food in Chinatown; family-friendly entertainment in Leicester Square; and while Trafalgar Square often hosts the main stage performances, you can find more stages on Dean Street and Shaftesbury Avenue.
