See the huge wooden D-Day map that was used to plan Operation Overlord, visit the actual room in which Eisenhower gave the fateful "Go" order for the 6th June 1944 and discover the amazing secrets behind the epic story of the Normandy landings and the stories of the incredible people involved including: Major Logan Scott-Bowden and Sgt Bruce Ogden-Smith who swam to the beaches on New Year's Day 1944 to conduct a night-time reconnaissance under the very noses of the Germans. Juan Pujol Garcia aka Agent Garbo - the double agent whom the Germans believed was their best spy in Britain. For his D-Day espionage he was awarded both the Iron Cross and an MBE! Leonard Dawe - a mild-mannered physics teacher and crossword compiler for the Daily Telegraph. Was he sending secrets to the Germans via a national newspaper? Just days before D-Day, answers to his crossword clues included Overlord, Sword, Gold, Juno, Utah, Omaha, Mulberry, Neptune... Duration: approx 2 hours. Also includes access to the Royal Military Police museum on site afterwards (allow extra time if you wish to see this). This is an active military site with strictly controlled and escorted access only. When booking, please supply the names of all those attending and their nationalities. On the evening of the 1st July we welcome The Jets to Maggie’s Northampton. This is a chance to see the band in a setting like no other. The famous and fabulous band The Jets will be performing at Maggie’s Northampton. An evening of rockabilly and doo-wop in an intimate venue, unplugged and laid back. Doors 6pm – Venue closes 9pm Only 50 tickets available to this truly one-of-a-kind evening. The Jets are a British rockabilly and doo-wop band from Northampton, England, best known for their UK chart hits "Yes Tonight Josephine" and "Love Makes the World Go Round," which reached numbers 25 and 21 respectively on the UK Singles Chart in 1981 and 1982. Nine of their tracks in total featured in the Guinness Book of Hit British Singles, cementing their place in British pop history. Formed in 1978 by brothers Bob Cotton (lead vocals and double bass), Ray Cotton (lead guitar and vocals), and Tony Cotton (drums and vocals), the band draws on the 1950s rock and roll tradition, blending a driving rockabilly beat with rich vocal harmonies, slap bass, and twangy guitar. Their musical inspirations include Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Eddie Cochran, and they emerged alongside acts like Showaddywaddy and Shakin' Stevens during the 1970s UK rockabilly revival. The three Cotton brothers remain the sole members of the band to this day. Their debut single, "Rockabilly Baby," was released in 1978, before they signed with major label EMI in 1981. Having continued recording and touring well into the 21st century, they released the compilation 50 Years of Rockin' in 2024 to honour nearly five decades of performing.
