A quality endorsed course designed for adults with an interest in building their wild skills, also ideal for Forest School practitioners.   Wild foods at Forest School certificated course: Learn to identify seasonal wild foods and Identify poisonous lookalikes Learn different fire lighting techniques using natural tinders and how these could safely be used with students. Explore and cook simple and tasty campfire recipes using foraged foods and simple cupboard staples. This training day runs from 10am-3pm in an outdoor setting. This course is Quality Endorsed by AIM. Participants will receive a digital certificate following the course, there is no coursework element. What will I need for the course? Please make sure you bring the following with you: A packed lunch. we will be cooking snacks on the fire. A travel mug. Suitable outdoor clothing for the weather conditions (trousers, not shorts) Stout shoes or boots. Please do not wear sandals. A camera  or camera phone can be useful for recording some of the activities We will be provide: Tea coffee All tools and equipment for the outdoor tasks (N.B. Course aimed at Forest School leaders but anyone is welcome to join and explore techniques and all the things you can make with willow! Come and join the Coddiwomplers, Stuart and Emma, for a fun relaxed day of willow weaving. The Coddiwomplers are experienced basket makers, school teachers and Forest School practitioners. Together we will explore a progression in willow weaving – from wrapping through to simple basket making. We’ll also look at buying, storing and preparing willow for use. You’ll go home with lots of practical ideas and projects you’ll be able to use in your setting as well as a pile of lovely things you’ve made. Please come suitably prepared for the British weather and wear stout shoes or boots. Please bring: A travel mug (preferably unbreakable) A camera if you wish A packed lunch Tea and coffee will be served throughout the day and are included in the price. Join the Ipswich Group of Suffolk Wildlife Trust for a fascinating walk through the Trust's new nature reserve Martlesham Wilds A former organic farm is being transformed into a nature reserve. This is aided by grazing animals, by establishing ponds and shallow scrapes. Martlesham Wilds volunteer, Jeanette, will lead us on a walk around the reserve and share the Trust's plans for this beautiful location along the River Deben. She will explain what we may expect to see in the future.
