The Azlans, proudly supported by the IRFU , are thrilled to host the inaugural Pride Tag Rugby Festival, a celebration of Pride in Northern Ireland, rugby, inclusivity and community. Whether you’re a rugby pro or have never picked up a ball before, this event is for everyone and will take place at the team’s main training grounds at Jordanstown Sport Village in Newtownards. We welcome all players* regardless of identity or background. Festival Schedule Morning: Give It a Go Session (10.30 AM – 12 PM) No experience needed! Join our beginner-friendly, non-contact rugby session to learn the basics of tag rugby, including ball handling, passing and some fun attacking and defensive drills. Open to all genders and skill levels. Afternoon: Tag Rugby Tournament ( 1 PM – 4.30 PM) Bring your team or join one on the day! This mixed-gender tag tournament is open to everyone, including players from the morning session. Teams must have a max of 10 players and include all genders. Expect fun, friendly competition in a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. Do you want to learn how to spot whales and dolphins from our shores? Join the Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust and go sea-gazing from this gorgeous Hebridean Whale Trail site. Led by our expert team, you will explore the stunning natural environment, and learn top tips for spotting amazing marine life. Meeting in front of the Glengorm Coffee Shop you will be met by HWDT's friendly and informative guides. We will then take a gentle and relaxing walk through the estate towards the coast. You will learn about local history, explore this beautiful landscape and find out more about the wildlife that can be spotted around Mull. You are invited to ask questions, share your experiences, or simply unwind and enjoy the wildlife. Along the way we will be on the look out for some of the incredible wildlife that can be spotted, as well as the photogenic Highland cows that graze here. At the headland we will set up with binoculars to see what we can see out at sea. With stunning views across the Sea of the Hebrides towards many other islands this is a fantastic vantage. Species will be hoping to spot among the waves include bottlenose dolphins, minke whales, harbour porpoises, seals and otters. We will also be on the look-out for white-tailed sea eagles, hen harriers and some incredible seabirds like shearwaters, gannets and guillemots. Even if we don't spot your favourite species, this guided walk will help you develop skills to go on and spot more wildlife afterwards. For families we also have a range of activities to keep the wee ones entertained (and might even be enjoyed by adults too!). Throughout the morning we will record wildlife spotted using citizen science on Whale Track to help monitor local marine life. We will help you discover how to get involved in collecting data to deepen our understanding of the marine environment and aid conservation efforts. The walk and watch suitable for all ages, and our guide will tailor the content to your interests, age and prior knowledge. The watch will vary depending on the wildlife around us and your interests and questions, but a variety of species, habitats and history will be explored and discussed. Please wear sensible, waterproof footwear, and, since this is Scotland, we would advise that you bring a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers and warm clothing. Bring binoculars if you have them, but if not we have a limited number available to loan from HWDT. The HWDT team will also have spotting scopes and other equipment to help you make the most from the watch. This is a photogenic walk, so cameras are welcome. Please ask permission before taking photos of other participants on on the walk, and tag us on social media to share your experience. The Glengorm Estate is a working farm, and we will be passing through areas with sheep and/or cattle. Friendly, quiet dogs are welcome, but we ask that they are kept on a short lead throughout. The walk to the coast will be on rough, uneven ground which may be boggy, and may not be suitable for wheelchair users, prams, pushchairs or people with mobility issues. However we can adjust the walk to best suit the group, so please contact us if you have any questions about accessibility. If this event is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, we will get in touch with you by 5pm the day before to let you know.
