Red Oak Victory's first big event for 2025 will take place on April 26! Our Spring Swing will feature live 30s-40s big band music from the very popular Bay Area performers, the Alpha Rhythm Kings preceeded by a dance lesson from Suzie Hardt of the Hidden City Ballroom in Point Richmond! We will be serving beer, wine, and cocktails (for those over 21, of course) in our Tiki Bar Lounge. If you get hungry, we'll have hotdogs and other snacks available for purchase from the ship's galley. And if you get tired of dancing, take a tour of our historic, World War II ship. We encourage and appreciate swing dancers in vintage clothing. But if you're not a dancer or you're not into vintage clothing you are just as welcome and there's plenty to do. Enjoy the music, have a couple drinks, enjoy some snacks, and take a tour of our World War II ship. A $25 Advance Ticket ($10 for kids 12 and under) , includes admission to the ship and dancing to Alpha Rhythm Kings b music. Beer, wine, and cocktails (21 and over only), and hotdogs, snacks and soft drinks will be available for purchase. A self-guided tour of the ship is also included in the price. NOTE: The $25 Advance TIcket is only available through Saturday, April 19. After that, online tickets will be $30 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. If we are not sold out, these prices also apply to tickets purchased at the door. So put on your dancing shoes or just come to listen and enjoy the music. We will take the mystery out of carving. This is a two session event. Session 1, 3 hour session, we will begin with safety, sharpening your knives / gouges, tool selection and techniques to get you started on plate or hand carving. We will work on your very own wooden shelf setting Leprocan. Session 2, again 3 hours. You will complete your carving and time pemitting, you will begin the painting process. At the end of seesion 2 you will leave with your own, one of a kind carving. All tools, supplies and classroom fees are included. This is a 2 session class. Session 1 you will prepare you bowl blank. This will include planning stock to thickness, ripping segment strips and then cutting your segments to create your rings. Then you will position and glue your segment rings. Lastly, you will press the segments together. Session 1 is 3 hours long.You will return the following week for session 2. In this session, Students learn about Lathe usage, cutting techniques, proper tool selection, sanding and finishing procedures and proper safety practices. All tools and materials provided.
