Local folk band Cotillion have been singing together since 1990, delighting audiences across the county with their three-part harmony pieces, accompanied by guitars, 6 Course mandolin, fiddle, whistles, recorders, concertina and melodeon. The Last Trip Home introduces a narrator to the group, telling the story of the change from horse and ox to the motor engine through an innovative mix of poetry, tunes, songs and prose; all in the beautiful setting of Newtimber Church. Fancy a walk before the talk? If you like to walk in our beautiful South Downs with a historic destination to aim for, then this is for you! Our pre-talk scenic walk, led by Anna Brooks, will take you from Edburton to Newtimber church, via Poynings. Walkers are invited to meet at Edburton Church at 10am. TIMETABLE FOR THE DAY 13.30 - Riders gather in Adastra Park and Ditchling Village Green - check bikes, register, briefing 14.00 - Bike train departs fromDitchling Village Green 14.15 - Ditchling riders join Hassocks riders at Adastra Park. 14.30 - Main ride departs for a loop of Hassocks 15.15 - Main ride finishes loop of Hassocks, returns back at Adastra Park 15.45 - Bike train returns to Ditchling 16.00 - End of ride INFORMATION FOR RIDERS Please register everyone who is attending - children, parents, guardians. This is a family friendly, stewarded ride, on the road, for riders of all abilities. All children under 16 must ride with an adult who is responsible for them throughout the ride. Please follow the instructions of the stewards,who are there to make the ride a pleasant and safe outing for everyone. We ask that slower and younger riders and their parents/guardians cycle at the front of the ride, so we proceed at their pace and the ride does not split. Please make sure that everyone who takes part on the ride has a roadworthy bike, and that the brakes in particular are working.We will be running 3 Dr Bike sessions before the ride so that you can have bikes checked out.
