Register now for the 2024 Southport Plein Air Festival and experience the breathtaking scenery of Southport and its captivating Cape Fear River coastline. Taking place from May 2-4, 2024, this event is not to be missed. Presented by Up Your Arts and the City of Southport, the festival will be held in the heart of downtown Southport. Building on the success of last year's festival, the format remains unchanged, giving artists the flexibility to choose between two or three days of painting. For just $50, artists can participate on Friday and Saturday, or for $75, they can extend their experience to include Thursday as well. Artists of all levels are invited to join this non-juried event, where local judges will award merit and People's Choice honors. Winners will also receive free registration for the 2025 Southport Plein Air Festival. There are no limitations on medium, quantity, or size, and artists keep all proceeds from the sale of their work during the Wet Paint Sale. This year, the sale will take place in a larger park, ensuring ample capacity for all. To register, artists can either submit their information online or mail their registration form along with the required fee to Up Your Arts. All canvases for the Wet Paint Sale must be stamped at the time of check-in/registration. Welcome packets, which include a map of Southport and suggested painting locations, will be provided, as well as the opportunity to purchase commemorative t-shirts throughout the festival. The schedule for the festival includes various activities and events, such as kids' plein air, fiber art and craft demonstrations, storytelling, food trucks, and live music.
