Come and join the fun of learning to make your own chunky blanket. We will guide you step by step to make your own blanket. The recommended age for this class is 10 and up. Choose from 3 different sizes of blanket to make the perfect size for you. Options are a 4 skein -Lap size blanket - A 6 skein Afghan size blanket - or An Extra Large 8 Skein Blanket. 7 colors to choose from - White, Pink, Silver, Mint, Charcoal, Red, or Teal, OR combine them however you make your own unique blanket. When buying your ticket, select the colors you would like to use to create your blanket. Each "add on" is for one skein of yarn. If you have a 4 skein blanket you would add on 4 items. This allows you to pick whatever colors of yarn you would like to use. Due to inventory limitations, those who sign up last for the class may have to adjust their color options if the stock of color they are interested in is already spoken for. We will make every effort for everyone to get the color they prefer. Extra skeins will be available to purchase at the class if you want to make your blanket larger. JA Finance Park Homeschool Day Developed to Educate - Designed to Inspire Imagine a generation of students armed with the confidence and understanding to take control of their futures and be equipped to achieve their dreams. The JA Finance Park Homeschool Day is an engaging, hands-on experience that helps students ages 13-15 to develop an understanding of basic business principles and the world of work ahead. They’ll learn first-hand what it means to be a citizen of a community, how to get a job, and how to make wise financial decisions to achieve the future they want for themselves and their families. The simulation runs from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the JA Discovery Center of Greater Dalton. WHAT IS JA FINANCE PARK? After in-class lessons on subjects like budgeting and credit scores, students are assigned a random ‘life situation’ with an education level, salary, and family scenario. They visit storefronts representing the major line items in a budget – housing, utilities, food, etc. – and work towards providing for themselves and their families within their assigned means. The 5th Annual Dalton Civitan Music Festival! Enjoy headliner and Grammy Winning Superband Shenandoah with opening act Neon Moon. ABOUT SHENANDOAH: Marty Raybon and Mike McGuire formed Shenandoah in 1984 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama with bassist Ralph Ezell, keyboardist Stan Thorn and guitarist Jim Seales. Shenandoah inked a deal with Columbia Records and began establishing a national fan base with their self-titled debut in 1987. However, it was the band’s sophomore effort, The Road Not Taken, that spawned their first top ten hits, "She Doesn't Cry Anymore" and "Mama Knows." The group followed with three consecutive No. 1 hits, "Church on Cumberland Road," "Sunday in the South"and"Two Dozen Roses.""The Church on Cumberland Road" spent two weeks at the top of the chart and made country music history as it marked the first time that a country band's first No. 1 single spent more than one week at the summit. Shenandoah became known for delivering songs that celebrated the importance of faith and family while reveling in the joys of small-town life. "Next to You, Next to Me" topped the charts for three weeks, and "Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart," a beautiful duet with Alison Krauss, won a Country Music Association Award for VocalEvent of the year and a GRAMMY® for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Shenandoah also won the Academy of Country Music’s Vocal Group of the Year in 1991. Kids under 10 are admitted free of charge if an adult with a wristband accompanies them. Please limit 1 child per ticketed adult. All minors must be with their Guardians and Guardians are responsible for the behavior of their children. There will be no sliding down the hills of Burr Park at this event as the hills will be barricaded off. Re-entry during the event WILL be permitted! Keep your wristband on while you spend some time in our walkable downtown and then come back for more music. Downtown Dalton is an open container, however, you cannot bring alcohol into the festival, as it's against the law. Your bracelet allows you to move inside and outside the park at your leisure at the festival. We have an awesome downtown with numerous restaurants, breweries, and shops for you to explore. General Admission tickets are for lawn seating/standing. To ensure everyone has a great experience, small blankets measuring no more than 60” x 30” (standard beach towel size) will be allowed, however, large blankets measuring more than 60x30 will not be permitted for this show. Chairs: Chairs will be allowed inside the festival. However, chairs will not be permitted in front of the stage. There will be signs marking where chairs are allowed, roughly 15 yards in front of the stage. The space in front of the stage will be for standing/dancing room only. Thank you for understanding. No outside glassware, beverages, or food is permitted. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to remove any individual(s) from the festival for misbehaving; You will be escorted out by security and not allowed back in! Rain or Shine. No Refunds. Round up your friends after the Wagon Train and head on over to Cedar Acres Ranch for a 3 day weekend of fun and excitement as we celebrate 4th of July all weekend long. Saddle up for some great music, delicious food, and good ol' fashioned fun!
