The 14th Annual Hernando Water Tower 10K Race is a highly anticipated event that not only promotes fitness and community participation but also supports a valuable cause, the Hernando Dolly Parton Imagination Library Early Literacy Program. Taking place on October 9th, this race welcomes running enthusiasts from the Mid-South and beyond to experience the charm of Mississippi's Front Porch. The event will showcase Hernando's historic districts and pay homage to the iconic Hernando Water Tower, a beloved local landmark. Established in 1925 and recognized as a Mississippi Landmark in 2009, this towering structure holds great significance in the city's history. Participants will embark on a scenic 10-kilometer route, commencing at Hernando's Town Square at 8 a.m. As runners weave through the city's picturesque, tree-lined streets, the majestic Hernando Water Tower will cast its shadow, creating a captivating backdrop. By joining this race, you contribute to the Hernando Excel By 5's Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program dedicated to enhancing early childhood education by providing age-appropriate books to children between the ages of one month and five years old. Each enrolled child will receive a monthly book until they reach the age of five, fostering a love for reading from an early age. Following the race, an exciting After Race Party awaits, complete with delectable food, refreshing beverages, and hand-crafted pottery awards for the winners in each age division. Additionally, participants have the chance to win a multitude of door prizes generously provided by local businesses.
