Nov 18, 2023 (UTC+0)ENDED
Aylsham
Children aged 4 years and above now have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive Learn to Ride course. This 4-day program, consisting of 4 one-hour sessions, is specifically designed for children between the ages of 4 and 10 who wish to learn how to ride a bike with pedals. As a prerequisite, it is recommended that 4-year-olds attend our Balance Bike course.
Throughout the Learn to Ride course, children will acquire the necessary skills and confidence to ride a bike independently. They will learn how to properly fit a helmet, mount and dismount the bike, find balance, steer, brake, and pedal. To ensure safety and build confidence, the first three sessions involve lowering the seats and removing the pedals from the children’s bikes. This allows them to learn the skills while having the reassurance of being able to place their feet on the ground if they lose balance.
The final session marks the reattachment of pedals, allowing children to practice the skills while also pedaling. The course will be conducted on four separate dates: Saturday, November 18th; Saturday, November 25th; Saturday, December 2nd; and Saturday, December 9th. Each session will take place indoors at the sports hall located in Aylsham High School - Sports Hub, Palmerston Way, Aylsham, NR11 6FN.
Parents are encouraged to observe all sessions to gain an understanding of the skills being taught and to support their child's practice outside of the sessions. The cost of the course is £50 per child, along with a small booking fee. Participants are required to bring their own bikes and helmets, unless they need to borrow them. A suitable bike helmet is mandatory for all participants, and we can provide one if needed.
Children should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for both indoor and outdoor conditions. Skirts and dresses are not recommended for comfort and ease of movement. Full refunds are available until 7 days before the start of the course. Don't miss this opportunity for your child to learn the fundamentals of bike riding in a safe and supportive environment. Book your child's place today to secure their spot in our Learn to Ride course.
