In 2025, Railway 200 marks the 200th anniversary of the world’s first public steam passenger train, which first ran on 27 September 1825. Pulled by George Stephenson’s Locomotion No.1, the train carried over 400 people along the Stockton and Darlington Railway, attracting crowds of up to 40,000 and ushering in the era of modern passenger travel.

An ARTIST ROOMS Partnership Exhibition with Tate and National Galleries of ScotlandLightbox Gallery marks a decade since its 2015 International Pop Art exhibition with the return of Pop Art icon Andy Warhol.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) created some of the most iconic images of the twentieth century, securing his place as one of the most influential artists in history. As a prominent figure in the Pop Art movement, Warhol was deeply fascinated by the allure of fame, popular culture, consumerism, and mass production. His artistic prowess extended across various visual media whilst challenging preconceived notions about fine art. In doing so he blurred the lines between art and popular culture.

We are delighted to be back for our autumn Nearly New Sale! Registration for sellers is now open and it costs £5 to register to sell. The NCT charity takes a commission of 25% on all items sold. This can be reduced to 20% or 15% for sellers who are able to assist with volunteering roles during and around the sale. We do ask that sellers please read the updated national NCT Nearly New Sale Guidelines before registering. You can view the guidelines for the sale, which can be downloaded from our website https://www.nct.org.uk/local-activities-meet-ups/nct-nearly-new-sale-sellers-principles It is very important that all sellers consider the guidelines carefully as there are specific requirements for certain items such as electrical items of prams/pushchairs/buggies. As these are volunteer run sales, all sellers are asked to help at some point during the day of the sale. If you've never volunteered before it can sound daunting but it really is a lot of fun and you can even learn new skills! When you complete your registration for selling you will be asked if you can volunteer.
