Bikes and helmets are available to borrow, and all of the training takes place at traffic-free venues. If you do have your own bike, then you are more than welcome to bring it! Our friendly and qualified instructors will help you with your balance, confidence and cycling skills and have you riding around in no time. Once you have built up your skills on this beginner session you can book on to one of our improver courses. This is an 18+ event As some of you know, Sharla Sieve was essentially my second mother. She unfortunately passed December 7th of 2022 from Stage IV Metastatic Colorectal Cancer and everything I've ever accomplished since that point has been in her honor. I ran my first marathon this past May, and I felt extremely confident after it as I finished in under 3 hours, 30 minutes. During this past summer, my mind shifted to thinking of Sharla and Mass General in hopes of getting accepted to run the Marathon for them at 23 years old. Her youngest daughter, Olivia, who is now a senior at Lynnfield High, where Sharla went to school, created a fundraiser before she passed; the goal of the fundraiser was to help support a new program at MGH to make Hepatic Arterial Infusions available. 2 times a month for the last year before she passed, Sharla had to travel to New York just to get the care she needed. The fundraiser raised over $120,000 as of late October '24. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to represent Mass General and my second family, the Sieves. This session is specifically designed for those who can't ride at all or who still feel wobbly when riding without support. Suitable for children aged 5 and older, the group sizes are kept small to ensure maximum benefit for all participants. Please note that there will be a maximum of 3 children per instructor. Due to funding constraints, these sessions are exclusively for Wakefield residents. When booking, please provide a Wakefield postcode. While you are welcome to bring your child's pedal bike without stabilisers, we have helmets, balance bikes, and spare bikes available for everyone to use. Parents do not need to stay with their child, as we find that children tend to make better progress when they have the opportunity to learn independently. It is important to only book onto one session. The session is free and lasts for 1 hour. The venue is The Outdoor Athletics Track at Thornes Park. FREE Women-Only Adult Cycle Training - First Time/Traffic Free Riding (TP) offers a fantastic opportunity for women to receive free adult cycle training. Whether you have never ridden a bike before or simply want to regain your confidence after a break, this training is designed to support and build your skills in a traffic-free environment. You can borrow bikes and helmets or bring your own, and our friendly and qualified female instructors will guide you through the process. They will assist you with balance, confidence, and cycling skills, ensuring that you are riding with ease in no time. Once you have completed the beginner session, you can even progress to the improver courses.
